  • Tasty but out for blood with acidity at the moment. This will be great in a few years but needs some time to find balance

  • already very accessible and fun to drink
if tasted blind it could have been a Prüm at first sight
typical Mosel stinky at the beginning, clearing up with time. pineapple and mango in the background
very mineralic on the 2nd day
was a bit sceptical at the beginning as it was a bit too easy for its price tag, but shows up some potential therefore i am good with it

  • not blind
A very good young Riesling from younger vines of Kirchspiel and Hubacker. The concentration for a wine around 25€ is looking for its equal. 92-93

  • 12.5% abv. Light gold, green tinge. Incredibly intense nose of petrol, lemon lime, straw. Vibrant acid, tart, long finish. My first Keller - glad I have more for long haul. Varietally perfect, imo. Very good.

  • Great energy and tension. Pure fruit and acidity is zippy. Very nice and has plenty of room to age further.

  • 94 Un vinazo. Va tomando un bonito color dorado, lentamente. Restos de carbónico. Nariz mineral y de petróleo. En boca es maravilloso , fino, cítricos y minerales, final explosivo y muy largo. Extraordinario. Evolucionará perfectamente.

  • This really was not quite ready, but still fun to drink. Typical notes I would expect from a Keller - minerals, lemon zest, a solid acid edge. Very good.

  • Electric & full of tension. Green apple, smoke, river stone, lime. Fruity driven nose with that mineral smoky backbone. Bone dry, playful acidity, plush body for a moment before the lime acid notes hit you. Lingering finish. Delicious trocken.

  • Sadly my last 750. Will need to find more as this is still just a baby but I couldnt resist drinking them. So much energy, cut, acidity. Great fruit and balance. Still fairly primary and will reward cellaring if you can hold off.

  • It has been a couple years since checking in on this wine and after reading the amazing article (twice through) by David Schildknecht on Vinous I needed to open a bottle from KP.
This was such a great bottle of wine. There is something about the 2019 vintage that I love so much. Plus, after our incredible visit to the winery in December, opening a bottle from KP is like seeing a good friend and so many great memories and warm feelings come flooding back.
Initially this was electric, like freshly squeezed lemon juice over crushed limestone. As it opened up notes of grapefruit and sweet herbs emerged with an alluring fragrance of pulverized stone interwoven with wildflowers.
With a couple hours of air this became more perfumed on the nose and showed a beautiful mix of quince, baking spice, and cardamom with a long tangy finish of refreshing mint and piquant white nectarines.
I am super excited see where this wine goes and watch its evolution in the future.

  • Part of a large tasting, wasn't able to take detailed notes. From mag.

Classic nose of petrol and lighter fruits. Palate had outstanding minerality, tension, acidity, and fruit. Just ridiculous. Not sweet to my palate. Finish was long and consistent with the palate.

I have minimal experience with Riesling, but this was outrageously good. Will age a long while as well.

  • 12.5% abv. AP 10. NOSE: bruised Anjou pear. Cress. Lemon frosting. Radish. Steel forge. Red apple. MOUTH: otherworldly, insurgence of searing, glycerin acidity that spans tones from highest to low. Nothing jangled or shrill, but rather a determined pulse of precisely organized menace. The flesh draping across these bones suggest red delicious apple, fats compounded with tarragon, sea salt, and currant. The finish is semi mind-blowing while it performs a gesture of appetizing bitterness in the midst of tectonic volumes of marble. At the end of each drink I experience an unusual (but not completely unheard of) reflex that can best be described as out loud laughter. It's like there's a patellar tendon in my face and the curious acidity of 2019 vdF triggers it reliably. 94+? I won't be surprised to find this gains points in the 2030-2040 range, or maybe the acidity loots the more tender gifts of the drinking experience. Let's plan on an awkward phase starting any day now: 2023-2027.

  • At this stage tons of energy and pop. Citrus, peach, minerals, spice, stones and hints of lemon. Love young Riesling as there is just so much going on. Plenty of structure for this to last quite a long time. Great bottle of wine for the $35 I paid....

  • Short tasting note. This is a nice wine! Crisp and dry, typical but well-structured flavors, nothing off. I do think age will reflect well on it. Probably need to take some bottles and hide them away.

  • In a very nice place, for my tastes this probably still needs another 2-3 years to more fully open. Lean, focused, intense, and a wine that was a steal at the $40ish that I paid for this. Outstanding!

  • Popped and poured into a Glasvin Universal.
Read elsewhere this is made from younger vines in the famous Keller GG vineyards, all from stony soils (hence the name “from the stones”). Apparently an entire barrel of Abst Erde was declassified into this.
The nose is huge and giving, full of white stone fruit , lacy flowers, and initially a bit of extremely cooling stoniness. The best way I can describe that sensation is when you’re running on a sunny day and you suddenly are in the shade of a rock wall face and the air takes on a wet chill. It’s a stunning feeling. The palate is, relative to this, somewhat subdued. I agree with the previous note that it might be closed off. Extra swirling brings just ripe stone fruit and some fennelly herbs, with searing acid in buckets. Will follow over some days but when this re-emerges I expect it will be phenomenal.
Edit: on day 3, this has blossomed and the fruit has woken up. Ripe stone fruits are balanced by lithe grapefruit. Layers of herbs and cream mingle, and the finish has fanned out and lengthened somewhat. Beautiful.

  • First bottle from a half case purchased from a German merchant in 2020. Initially very waxy, almost petrolly on the nose, not a lot of definition, but the palate is clearly very energetic, with crisp acidity. Feels a bit unformed. Much better on the second day, lots of citrus and apple, grapefruit bitters, flowers and lots of chalky minerality. Very good persistence. It looks like this has shut down a bit, but it should improve with age.

  • 93 Gran vino. Petroleo y más petróleo en nariz. Muy joven, pero ya bien hecho, sabroso. Buena acidez, mineralidad y cierto volumen. Espléndido.

  • Not easy to come by as I have said before, such is the demand, just a couple of bottles as I am not carried away with my '18s, previous vintages that I managed to get hold of were good to very good.

This to me was an improved version of the '18, so I am not convinced, the style so obviously based on acid is exemplary if that is what you like, but the fruit content is virtually obliterated, those earlier vintages were to me that bit more fruit driven and again for me that worked, I will keep the other bottle and try in a couple of years.
I am obviously the odd man out on this as the majority are going with the acid trend, and that is fine.

  • Til sushi. Aromatisk nese med hvite blomster. Lett modning. Smal og skarp frukt med solid syre. 3 timer i flaske: Lukt av røyk og knust stein og sylskarp fersken.

  • Light aromatic w. greenish notes and some yellow fruits. Razor sharp mouth-watering acidity and stony minerality. The fruit, while subdued, is present and adds to the body. Very energetic. Has plenty of years ahead.

    Keep.

  • This was followed over a three day window. On the initial pop, it is lithe, floral, with a heavy dose of petrol. Fully dry, not even a hint of sweetness, the intense, chiseled limestone notes and energetic lime juice linger on the palate for a long time. This did not lose any steam with air, in fact it kept building. Marvelous Riesling and in fact I like it better than the 2020.

  • Gooseberries, green apples and lots of limestone on the nose. Lime, green apples and minerals on the palette. Tropical fruit pops out with air and a few degrees. Very high acidity, pure and precise. Will most likely improve immensly with some time in the cellar. Next bottle 2027.

  • Pinot Blind: Another white at the end of the tasting after all the reds. Small pour. Delightful. White peach and golden fruit notes with a little petrol and stone mixed in. Really well crafted balanced Riesling.

  • Well gave it another try , had the wine in Zalto burgundy glass where it performed best but as my previous experience i can only say that i am not a fan of this vintage from Keller. Had it over several days to give it a chance to open up , but to me it doesn't seem to have a lot i think its more singular in its expression. Which is mostly lemon juice.

  • one of the best ‚regular‘ Rieslings. very straight and clear.

  • "Imposter Night" (Los Olivos, CA): Soundly asleep, and didn't budge despite a multi-hour decant. Compacted and unyielding, showing more extract than fruit (and loads of acid, of course). I could pick up some lemon, white berries and herbal notes. Let these rest. Hard to score, but in time this will shine. Served blind alongside a Central Coast Riesling, and the crowd was split as to which one was the German representative.

  • An absolute pleasure to check in on this wine from KPK.
Delicious and nuanced with a real sense of refinement and class. Notes of lemon verbena, white nectarines, and Asian pear welcome you to the glass followed by complex tones of crushed seashells and smoked herbs. The finish is long and saturated with mouthwatering Meyer lemon.
I saved about a third of the bottle and finished it a couple days later. An exotic note of guava emerged showing another layer of flavor and making this wine all the more fun to drink and exciting to cellar for future pleasure and evolution.

  • Has closed a little since my last bottle. Classy beyond the price tag still, a little strict today, packed with extract. Wild flowers, banana skin texture, great but let them rest now.

  • Checking out 2019 von der Fels a bit early. Since I don't know @kellerdalsheim wines at all I can can only give you my impressions and hazard some guesses on aging. Opened and first glasses poured after maybe 30 minutes. Petrol and exotic tropical fruit on the nose. Palate had searing acid, some pear and gooseberry. Quite disjointed. Gave it a spot score of 87 for starters. After an hour the raging acid queen von der Fels integrates a bit more and you can detect pear and tropical fruit and some mineral goodness. This seems to me like a painfully young wine. *Maybe* open another in 5 years? I think it has the potential to be really special in 10. For now it's 89 points and a wild ride, definitely not for the faint of heart. Very Good.

  • Hyper, hyper young but with impressive raw material, this shows dense and concentrated fruit with searing acidity and pronounced minerality. It's fairly weighty, bordering on GG levels. This should improve vastly with time, as should my score.

  • What a hauntingly beautiful wine.

Focused aromas of grapefruit, bergamot, lemon oil, and dried herbs envelop a core of chalky minerals. Great cut and precision on the palate, with racy acidity, yet expansile in body from the mid-palate onto a pleasantly long chalky citrus finish. A superb riesling that continues to have great QPR!

  • Seems somewhat closed right now. On the nose very, very lean with a bit of lemon and a hint of herbs. On the palate also very reticent, again with citrusy flavors and a slender minerality.

  • Touch of petrol, lemon, bunch of citrus

Palate has a boatload of intense acidity, grapefruit, lemon, tons of peach. A little bit of apple and lovely mineral texture. I enjoyed this quite a bit however at this time the expressions are primary and loud. No complaints on my end though. 91 points now but with a sturdy frame that will continue to improve.

  • Nose is a mix of lime, peach, green apple, and wet rocks. Palate fills in with grapefruit, more citrus, and hint of tropical fruits. Really intense minerality throughout, and bright juicy acidity. Energetic and delicious.
    Absolutely killer value.

  • Keller
I’ve been buying since 2015 so I had to try this one while still young.

👃🏻: Chalk, lime, small hints of ripe stone fruit, some green aromas, wet stone, grape, white flowers.

👅: Very fresh acidity and intense minerality - feels a little lighter than 2018. Nice tension.

    Incredible QPR as always.

  • Great clarity, chalky citrus, focussed acid, might have closed up a little but still packed with energy.

  • Chalky, lemon lime, more chalk, hints of some riper fruit, more chalk- bright, even tart acidity. A VdF on the greener side of the spectrum but with so much minerality and dry extract. Like a Muscadet but better in every respect. Super.

  • I tried to like this, but just too much lemon got in the way for me. I agree that there are interesting secondary flavors here, some salinity, mineral, etc but I couldn't shake the off balance acidity. Too tart for a sipping wine, even with a garden salad including avocados and ample olive oil, the citrus acidity was noticable. Agree with previous reviewers that it is a well made, excellent white, but not for my palate today, at least not at first.

I corked the bottle and put it back in the fridge for 2-3h. Now the strong lemon has receded, while present it is no longer the dominant element. Much better. 89/90

  • The '19 VdF is a killer wine, full of energy and a lot of fun to drink. On the nose, I found fresh squeezed lime, grapefruit, wet stone, and white floral aromas. On the palate, the wine shows off its incredible energy with an onslaught of fresh citrus and lime and intense minerality, with very high acidity and a nice level of concentration. At this stage, it's an incredibly intense wine that I find very enjoyable, but I could see some saying the acidity is sticking out too much. It's not showing much complexity at the moment, but presumably over time some of this youthful exuberance and energy will convert to more aromatic and flavor complexity.

  • Opened and gave it about 10 minutes of air in the glass. Not surprisingly very primary, but with super fresh notes of grapefruit, freshly cut lime, some green apples too, quite some minerality with notes of steel, chalk, some wet stone, there is also a herbal/flowery component like linden blossoms and lime blossoms, also a touch of honey. It‘s medium-bodied and lighter than the 2018 from memory, the acidity is high but slightly better integrated, it has good tension and mineral cut. There seems to be a touch of RS that is balancing the acidity nicely. Pretty long finish with good complexity. A very pretty Riesling at a realistic price (if you can find it). (92+)

  • I've never opened this wine early like this, but damn, this is possibly the best bottle of VdF's that I've had. The nose is expansive and at once explodes into scents filled with the most perfect peach dashed against crushed marble with lime juice. The palate is taught & bright as if rocks, lime, and green apple were all exploding in your mouth like pop-rocks. This is such a brilliant wine that highlights how top-to-bottom all the wines KPK is making are special and worthy of the attention of all wine geeks.

  • I don’t often drink this early, but this is glorious. Dense mineral nose with grated lemon peel. Beautiful balance, a little soft fruit on the attack, then all pith and a long mineral finish. Very vibrant and energetic.

  • Right now this is pure acidity (apple), so either pirate for 12 hours or leave in cellar for a few years. It will be good eventually!

  • Really powerful nose of lime, green apple, abundant grey/white mineral note, palate is really clean, fresh and persistent, if this is any indication of what 2019 german wine is like my wallet is in serious trouble!

  • More obvious limestone minerality than the ‘17 RR, with a cooler impression to the fruit; green apple, lemon-lime interplay with tart citrus throughout the nose and palate. So much energy and drive. Does come across as a bit young and bracing but will only improve. Incredibly long, mineral-laden finish. Good subtle ripeness.

1 dag i flaske: bedre i dag, fortsatt stram, men noe mer fylde ig epler. Test til Riesling-ribbe

  • Could not imagine that I will be close to FDP's opinion but indeed, the 19 von der Fels lacks the aromatic spectrum of the 18. Its purely driven by lemon and chalk with strong acidity. Thats it.
    Not enough for my expectation.
The 2018 remains the peak for me.

  • All primary with fresh basil and pear popsicle, granny smith and lemon juice, gunpowder, iron and crushed rocks. Appears fairly light-bodied at this stage, yet intense enough, with pronounced acidity thats masks the few grams of residual sweetness. Chalky texture, lovely energy and tension. Had to taste it, very promising indeed and no regrets at all, goes down all too easily even if true greatness is several years away.

  • Glad that I received at least some few bottles of this from a friend. The acidity and mineraity is outstanding and in this very early stage of this wine the lime taste is pretty dominant. I still fell that I already tasted a first glimpse of a light sweet fruitness (probably pineapple but not sure) which is promising for the future. The final glass on the second day after opening was a perfect fit with white asparagus.

  • Well i had this bottle over 1 week to see how it performs , all i can say is that if you like pure lemon juice , this is the wine for you.
It doesn't show much more than lemon juice !
I had it in Zalto glass and in other vintage it has to me been a lot better....so i am not so sure that 2019 is such a great vintage that some say.

  • WOW, got some bottles right from Dalsheim,
so pnp one of these, unbelievable tension in a Gutswein (Village), some (minor) GG from other estates are in lesser condition young,
nothing but great Riesling purity, all about mineralic stonelicking, limy as limy can be, just a whiff of grapefruit, a delicate delicious one, is in the background,
light- to midbodied, mouthwatering and addictive wine juice, lingering very convincing finish, really great QPR, 17,50€ ex Weingut, highly recommended! Will improve over a decade(+) for sure! *(***-?), 91-93(+) potential
