The reviews of this vintage are fine but, with one exception, they don't give much sense of whether people actually enjoyed what they had the dread duty of drinking. As Faith No More once sang 'It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it!'
I have enjoyed several bottles of this from my local, usually awful, chain liquor store. Every time I have it, I want to guzzle it and I usually do. If this does not give you a blood curdling erection (or female equivalent, if you are one) and a case of raging desire then one must question whether you need to have someone hold you down and make you listen to Soft Machine's 1968 classic 'Why Are We Sleeping?'. Why, indeed. Wake up, get some wood and guzzle this whilst banging the nearest thing from pillar to post. 'Bella, ciao' should be your musical guide as you finish this wine, especially appropriate for this region.

Excellent Arneis. Lots of energy and tension. Well balanced with lively acidity. Attractive yellow fruits and citrus with a pronounced savoury quality.

Mixed Italians (Terra Rossa, N1): Hazelnut, freshly churned butter, ripe lemon and balmy white peach. Some spritz on the palate - round and snub-nosed as typical for the variety. Not much acidity and a satisfying bitter tightness on the finish

Medium yellow color. Med minus aromas of white peach, sea breeze, petroleum, yellow apple, pear, almond, maybe slight a bit of vanilla. Med acidity, med plus body, dry, high alcohol, long finish. Slightly oily texture. Moderately aromatic and some salinity and oily texture. Showing some nutty tertiary aromas and primary fruits are fading so drink now or possibly even past its prime.

A nice Arneis, but not the best. White floral notes on the nose with slight hints of citrus. The palate has flavors similar to the white floral scent edging into vanilla, green melon and persimmon. The body is medium, with balanced acidity. A nice quaff (better a tad warmer than refrigerator cold). ABV 14%.

Pear and honeysuckle nose which grew in the glass. Superb acidity and body (14% alc. and a little viscous but not heady at all with no heat on the finish) and a grapefruit note on the end. Amazing QPR. Not sure about longevity but it's drinking well now.

Pale gold color. Drank a couple glass over 2 hours. Absolutely spot on from my note a year ago. I love this. So pure and focused with that crystalline minerality. Gotta reload on these.

Medium lemon color with medium intensity, youthful aromas of lemon, lime, stone, pair, apple, and a hint of ginger. This wine has medium plus acidity with a pallet that matches the aromas with a medium finish. What stands out is the triad of citrus, ginger and pear with bright acidity.

Piemonte Non-reds & Catena Malbec Horizontal: Not too much on the nose. Pear, cream, lime peel. Medium body. Light flavour, particularly in the mid-palate, with some oyster shell and a slight green note. Characterful rather than delicious - came alive with some food.

Pale golden color. Powerful nose of lemon zest, almond skin, white florals, hay, salty/stony minerality. Really interesting. Big and broad on the palate for a white wine, which surprised me a bit. Has a full bodied mouthfeel with good acidity and a drying, salty finish. Savory flavors dominate any fruit on the palate. Definitely a food wine as opposed to a casual sipper. I will let my remaining bottle age for a bit but this is a very impressive QPR wine.

This (rather famous) producer’s arneis wines are the best I’ve tasted. This particular wine has a clear personality: slivered (skinless) almonds, pear, Sprite (lemon/lime with something a touch effervescent), and a hint of mint. All in all, very refreshing. Distinctive too—I think it would be possible to identify this in a blind tasting. (Not saying I could do so, but I do believe this varietal has unique characteristics, and what would make it hard is just the lack of experience with the varietal.). I get a sense that this wine displays every virtue of arneis, with little room for improvement.

Citrus /lime nose. Fuji apple and citrus (lime and grapefruit) on the palate. Will correct myself from earlier note: I think the finish is a touch saline rather than bitter.—but at any rate, not sweet, despite a pleasing rich mouthfeel. Good acidity.

Shimmering light gold color. Split bottle over 3 hours. Had this tonight with our first morels of the season in a linguine pasta with asparagus and shallots. These are so underrated and overlooked. This has a crystalline slate-like minerality with such lifted and blissful citrus notes, a mix of lemon and grapefruit infused with white apple and white nectarine. The florals are there too along with lemon zest that gives this incredible freshness and lift. Great pairing tonight, very versatile and a wine to take note of.

Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light lemon-green colour, with watery rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (-) intensity aromas of citrus fruit of lemon and grapefruit, floral notes of acacia and white blossom, stone fruit of peach, mineral notes of stony and brine. The wine is youthful. Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium (+) in alcohol and medium (-) body, with medium intensity flavours of citrus fruit of lemon and grapefruit, floral notes of white blossom, stone fruit of peach, sweet spice of ginger. The wine has a medium finish. Conclusion: Good quality Roero Arneis with a decent nose showing nice citrus and floral characters, with some peach and minerality as well. On the palate the wine has good acidity, vibrant and refreshing, having nice structure and reasonable concentration in flavours as well as fair length on the finish. It is ready to drink now and not meant for further ageing.

Effervescent, dry, delicious. I like the professional notes of "full bodied and lingering finish." BUT. it's so refreshing - melon, pineapple with some minerality and some floral notes. I would definitely buy this again, as it's a great day or canapé accompaniment.

The nose has a quality I instantly connect to Le Langhe and a white floral apricot pit quality that beckoned me in. On the palate it races down the groove of the tongue with a fizzy spritely acidity finishing on a long lingering minor chord- not quite bitterness but a contrast to the allegro major chord the nose and mid-palate are played in, almost insisting on a further sip to bring about a resolution. Love the note below about an NZ Sauv B and a Chardonnay having a baby- spot on plus an extra touch of Langhe terroir.

Some excellent zip on entry with tasty tropical fruits on the palate with a lemony finish and a sense of a banana cream pie fullness. Kind of like a lemon, a NZ SB, and a Chardonnay had a baby. Quite a nice intro to Arneis for me.

Straw color. Fresh and sweet to start, but immediately broadens out to something more complex, with Fuji apple, a hint of chalk and a touch of bitterness. Medium-long finish. Marvelous. Paired with monkfish pie.

A go to wine for us when we’re at La Cena. This is always a favorite. Very bright. High acid. Fruit and flowers. It’s the perfect wine coming in from the heat of a Florida summer to cool off and works with salad which is always hard.

Energetic and cool, subtle but intense aromatics, minerals and white flowers, fruit of white peach, apricot, kiwi and pink grapefruit, dry but juicy style, creamy texture (do I detect a hint of bâtonnage?), ripe but bright acidity and lively bitters, lemon and tangerine finish. Excellent Arneis, lovely complexity for such a young wine. In a way the stylistic equivalent of a top-notch rosé from Provence.
