The complex aromatics here pop with dried flowers, espresso, cigar wrapper, spice, brown sugar and an array of red with black fruits. The wine is elegant, refined, fresh, silky and fresh. The fruits are sweet, pure, refined and defined. In fact, this is so good, it would be a success in any vintage. But, in 2021, it is a screaming success and is clearly one of the wines of the vintage! Drink from 2026-2052.

UGCB SF Tasting Event (Metreon, San Francisco): Pourned next to the Canon, and it's obvious to see the winemaking kinship, even if it doesn't quite have the same level of stuffing. Lovely red-fruit aromatics, with supple red fruit and florals dancing around a mineral core. A bit of oak spice. Silky tannins with a touch of rasp and the overall effect is suave and sophisticated. 93

UGC Bordeaux (Drake Hotel - Chicago IL): Walkaround tasting. Classically styled old school Bordeaux is firm with good stuffing. Well spice black plum and cherry, good depth.

Union Des Grands Crus Bordeaux (New York City, NY, USA): I don't know what some of the pro's were drinking but the wine I tasted today is nowhere near a mid-to-upper 90's score. Maybe they had wine that was properly decanted? I have liked this in the past but this was disappointing for me. While I usually like "old-school" Bordeaux like this seemed it wasn't balanced for me. It seemed a little lightweight with some green notes and camphor as well as lots of cedar. ??? Another uninteresting Margaux...

UGCB Millésime 2021 (Montréal, QC, Canada): Herbacé, graphite, fruits en attaque, milieu de bouche plus mince, mais vif et droit avec une superbe finale longue avec des tannins serrés.

(95-97 vvPunkte) Rubinrot, ziemlich dunkel.

With a nice richness to the color, the wine opens with lilies, roses, coffee bean, Indian spice and black plums. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, elegant, refined and silky. There is freshness and energy, along with a nice sweetness to the fruits. There is a touch of chalk at the backend of the finish. You will be able to enjoy this in its youth, which is not always the case here with this age-worthy Margaux. The wine was produced from blending 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, 13% ABV. The harvest took place September 20 to October 8. Drink from 2025-2050. 94-96

No notes due to 400 wines at EP. This was a very nice wine, good structure and drinking well in its early life. Based on release price, far below current market, good size buy.

En-Primeur campaign for the 2021 vintage; 4/25/2022-4/29/2022 (Bordeaux): A little struck match, graphite, fresh ripe (though not overripe) wild blackcurrant, muted polished oak in support on the nose. Medium plus intensity acidity, savoury, medium plus intensity chalky tannins show grape and wood, chewy, tight and dominant on the palate. The fruit is present beneath this with time and agitation the fruit grows on the palate. The merlot offers more breadth and structure than flavour for me. A little out of balance. Hmm

Serious, quite deep, sweet red fruit, floral aspect, rosy. Richly contoured in the mouth, yet the tannins creep in. Reasonably good finish.

UGC Bordeaux 2021, SF: Dried herb, not huge fruit. Subtle compared to some others of the vintage. Good, but not one of the better wines of the day.
