Opened and poured off a taste at 4:30, first glass at 7. Lovely wine but quiet, no spark to it, no real vibrancy on the nose. It’s delicate and elegant and classy but also not complex articulate or pungent. The palate - similar. Balanced, suave, not super detailed, and the tannins are a bit harsh on the finish. It’s hard because you’re sitting there drinking Roumier and it’s easy to criticize when it isn’t great. This is not at all great. But it’s good. At current price it’s not close to good value. But it’s still good wine and quite surprisingly the last bit was the best by far on the palate. Perhaps this does need a decant for an hour before drinking.

6th of 12, opened an hour then decanted 2 hours, perfect cork and level, maybe not the most complex of Roumier's wines, but delicious and with his signature purity and drive, now entering mature phase but with upside possible, 15+ years. F+ (18).

This is a really lovely bottle but it does have some flaws. The nose is superb: fruit purity, a touch of meatiness, purple flowers. The weight and palate are robust and initial impression is a maturing, excellent Morey that is textbook and demands attention. So far so good. What I’m not digging is the short and slightly green/tannic finish. I’m hoping it’s just this bottle as others tasted have not displayed this kind of finish. Roumier might be my favorite wine producer. (89)

4th of 12, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, tighter and less expressive than last bottle in May, sense of retreating back into shell, no doubt to blossom again in a year or so, plenty in tank for an 06. F (17.5).

A perfumed nose of the vintage shows bright red cherry, violet, and sous bois. Good concentration to dense red fruit flavors that finish with a salty minerality. Some coarseness to the tannins suggest benefit to further cellaring. Very good.

G Roumier Virtual Tasting (Zoom): Alongside the 06 Chambolle. This was the much more harmonious and approachable of the 06 Roumier bottles. Excellent fullness and richness to the fleshy black cherry fruit. Plenty of spice and mineral character throughout. A complete wine already, with upside from here.

Roumier Chambolle-Musigny Virtual Tasting (Planet Earth): Opened at 9:30 for a Noon tasting, then revisited over a few hours. Dense with lots of black cherry, roasted meat and good+ density. Slightly backward to start, this opened up nicely over the first hour+ in glass, and really ended well. Just now entering its peak drinking window, which is about what I expect from Bussière, which I typically will not open until 15 years after the vintage.

Coming along very well and I think will peak in 7-10 years, based on the showing tonight. It took over an hour (no decant) to fully blossom. This is an imperfect wine - the tannins can be a bit rough at times, it isn't have the most elegant expression, it doesn't show the midpalate complexity and drive that finer vintages show. But it is a truly lovely wine, and a testament to what this producer can do in a poor vintage. The aromatics are complex, with dark berries and fresh and dried leaves and savory tones of rock and old-sea-bed, and some musky notes too. The palate is very fresh, airy, and pure, and very pretty. It's less harmonious here than on the nose, but still very lovely, and when it harmonizes after a bit over an hour, becomes pungent and powerful while still showing lightness and grace. Hard to argue with this, especially in 06.

2nd of 12, opened 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, now at beginning of drinking window (first bottle 2 years ago quite closed) and with that attractive Roumier transparency and purity, fine crunchy slightly sour black cherry fruit, lightly spiced, very long and persistent if without the depth and layering of his top wines or better vintages, attractive balance, 10 plus years of life ahead. F (17.5)….more attractive on pleasure than technical mark.

The Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussiere is most probably the best value wine from Domaine Georges Roumier in secondary market. This 2006 Roumier Morey Saint Denis is still young and barely developed any tertiary flavours, which is unsurprising consider how well Roumier wines ages. Densely packed array of dark berries, sweet cherries, low pitched earthy spices of Morey Saint Denis and dried meat. Complex with layers of fruits. Drink now to 2038. (90/100)

I like this a good bit and maybe more than most. Light cherry / Pinot color that hides the waves of pristine red fruits and warm earth on the nose. The palate is robust with some sweetness yet light as a feather. The mix of purity and depth is very well played. To me this is “naked” burgundy - all the goodness with little to no window dressing. Should drink well for the next 5 to 7 years. Will not knock you out with complexity but boy is this wine pure. (92)

The 2006 Roumier Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussiere is showing plenty of youth and is open for business. Scented sweet cherry, deep-pitched dark cherry, blackberries, meaty edge with a hint of fig jam. Maturing very slowly consider it’s from 2006 vintage, no doubt this will age for a couple of decades. Top village / premier cru weight with spiced dark fruits and drying tannins on the finish. Skilful winemaking. (90/100)

Interesting to drink after Roumier Village Chambolle that was significantly younger (12). Wine near peak, starting to show rim variation and a touch of bricking. Amazing nose, delicious darker red fruits. Still lively with good acidity and overall poise/balance. Wow!

This is a wine that totally justifies its price in today's market. Roumier is expensive these days, yes. But this has stunning elegance, refinement, beautiful pure velvety fruit, and transcends all other versions of Morey St Denis. Gorgeous balance, with all sorts of pristinely ripe red fruits, fruits of the forest, and just everything that you could possibly want when you have a red burgundy craving. Utterly gorgeous. Pure delight. Chuffed that I have two bottles left. Not planning to share them.
Open 30 minutes before serving. Brooding and backward through almost hours in glass. Very good density and black fruit, but this needs more cellar time. I like the potential here a lot, but patience required, which is almost always my experience with this wine from most vintages.

Bought off the shelf from a sleepy wine shoppe in a small town in Virginia. Seemed well preserved, bottle in good condition. The wine was utterly lovely. Needed a few hours of air, which we gave it, checking in periodically. Beautiful aromatics that evolved over the course of the night, showing at first mostly dark rich fruit that felt new-world in tone, but took on more complex aromas too, showing animale, hard spices, and salty rocks. Balanced with good acidity, harmonious, the tannins are fine and the wine is well structured. Delicious wine, super long and complex, a wine that justifies the hype over producer, and indicates the potential of this 1er cru.

I told myself I'd wait at least a year to try this wine again, and it's been about a year and 3 days. Color is deep ruby with a slight amount of bricking around the edges. The nose is musty with hints of sour cherries and spearmint. On the palate, the wine is slightly corked with a strange acidity. Not much fruit or character. I'd write this off as a bad bottle, and it might be, but I just read my notes from last year and they're remarkably similar. I had 4 bottles of this and 2 have been very underwhelming, and I know they've been perfectly stored since release. I'll assume this is another bad bottle and won't rate it.

Fabulous nose of toast and earth from the wood, flowers and berries from the fruit and an altogether very elegant nose. The only fault is that is smells more of Chambolle than Morey, but you can hardly hold that against it :-) Medium body, with succulent transparent fruit. Great freshness carrying the finish. Great Roumier!

Medium ruby red with a hint of bricking. The nose is musty and dank. On the palate, there are hints of sour cherry, but mostly it's wet wood. I gave this a good 3 hours in the glass and it never really came together. I'll try again in a year or two and hope this is just a phase it's going through.

it's got the bright, candied red fruits character that a lot of 2006s seem to have right now. Very fragrant. Palate is all red fruits and a bit of game. Not as structured as i'd have expected. Good but, for my liking, not as much fun as the mugneret gibourg feusselottes 2006 we've recently drunk. Needs more time? Was on the list for less than roumier's 2006 chambolle so clearly not a popular 1er cru.

Medium ruby-clearly deeper than the '07 Chambolle. Gamier, riper nose, much meatier on the palate than that wine. Sappy with licorice and some earth. Fine but substantial tannins. Very good and merely in its adolescence.

Dark dry chewy red Burg. A tad on lean side likely due to being a bit closed down, but offers up elegant drinking with pretty subtle spiced dark red cherry flavors. Nicely balanced and l suspect this opens more in time. Still a treat and Roumier style shines though.

Out of the bottle, smells of dark cherry, raspberries, earth & vanilla. Initially it tastes of smooth red berries and then becomes slightly tart, showing light tannins. 20 minutes later the taste evolution, though short & light, was very balanced & structured with the tannins completely subsided.

Still quite (perhaps too) young; very pleasant overall, though unremarkable. Beautiful ruby color in the glass, the wine is dominated by red fruit and high acidity. Tannins seemed to firm up as we went along, but were well-integrated.

Morey Saint Denis with James Handford MW (Handford Wines, London): Tried 07,06 and 05 side by side and have to admit we saw very little vintage variation. Almost as if Roumier was looking to master blend this wine to a specific goal. Lean, mild and lacks density and depth. Still balanced and makes for nice easy drinking but not worth the price tag. Still feels like it can last and age. Not great though The 06 is probably the better of the 3 in terms of now

The wine was opened and poured at the dinner, side by side with a Chevillon Nuits St. Georges Roncieres 2006. The Roumier did not disappoint, with forward fruit on the nose, with red cherry fruit and nice mineral complexity. Fine and balance rounds out with some stone, floral, and dense. Structure and tannin are there for some 5-10 years of aging, and I would imagine take on additional characters. The wine shutdown at the end of our steak dish, but the pairing was wonderful. Thanks, sehill.

This wine was opened and poured. This is drinking well now and a big relief after recently tasting the 2004 version of this that did now show well. This wine shows elegant aromatics of red cherry, spices and floral notes. There is wonderful elegance on the bouquet coupled with good complexity and enough accessibility to drink well now. The color is medium ruby that is youthful and correct. The medium bodied palate relies on refinement and balance. The wine does shut and become more stern an hour after opening. This is wine that drinks well now and should benefit from a couple years of bottle age.

Burgundy Corner (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): Soft red watermelon core. Wow what can I say about the nose? The first thing that comes to mind is extreme crystalline delicacy. So complex, yet so soft with aromas of spices, fresh cut flowers, crushed wild berries, cherries, and concrete. The palate as expected is more forceful but very pure and lifted with flavors of fresh sweet cherries, raspberry, and hints of oak on the generous finish. This is quite different from the others in that it is structured but the firm tannins are underlying and seem to be balanced more by the fresh acidity and fruit density. Drinking gorgeously but I can’t help but think this will improve with time as well. Kills you with delicacy. 94+

The cork was completely soaked and soft although the top was clean. Cherry and strawberry with leather and dark chocolate; balanced and elegant, but little simple and short on the finish. Enjoyable, but little more advanced than expected.

Deep ruby, nose of cherry. Heavy oak influence on palate, but there is tense between acidity and tannin that made thus wine less bland, otherwise, quite one dimenional.

Mid red colour. Forward nose of ripe cherry, raspberry with leather and dark chocolate, quite complex. Very balanced, elegant, good acidity an decent finish. Very enjoyable now. I have to say elegant again.

Light oak and dark berries perfume with medium body and a semi-long finish. Deceptively powerful for a pinot noir. Great taste.

Not great though
The 06 is probably the better of the 3 in terms of now
