"There's a lot of fish at Montrose Harbor" (Chicago, IL): From magnum. Creamy, large-scaled, and rich, with a bit of a white grape note that seems out of the place for the age and vintage. I liked this more than a fifth a few years ago, but this is a little less taut and electric than I would expect for a 2008 Champagne.

Mixed Bag at Irene's (Irene's House, St. Paul): Pale gold color. Drank a glass plus over an hour. Toasty, white flowers, poised, pear, expquisite, crystalline minerality, patisserie cream, long and focused. Delightful!

Pausing for the Cause 2022 (Chicago, IL): Perhaps a little less autolytic and rich than I would have expected for Deutz (then again, my experience with the wines is fairly minimal). Good acidity and brightness, but a tad simple for a tête de cuvée.

Mixed WTDS at The Kenwood (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour plus. First time having the Amour and this was flat out gorgeous. I was a little worried about popping one at this point, but clearly that wasn't an issue. Great nose; very fresh and lifted, delicate and nuanced, pear glace, confectionary, buttery croissant, biscuit and mascarpone. The palate beautifully lacy and elegant, composed and bright with a featherweight feel, pear, almond, biscuit, patisserie, lightly toasted, delicate stony minerality and citrus with vivid clarity on the finish. 95+ to 96pts.

Don't think I've had this cuvee before? And drinking the '08 is a good intro. I love its racy & pristinely pure effervescence. This dances across the tongue shooting off little citrus zest & mineral burst. There's a lemon poppyseed element along with stone fruit notes, almond and more mineral. There's stunning intensity but the whole experiences is feather weight elegance. I loved it and will keep an eye out for a btl in the future. Its time to look for alternatives to the big price jump on Tait Comte, Dom & Crstal.
This had pretty incredible balance. Lemon, apple. Really… it tasted like a citrus lemon brioche bun. After an hour it really opened up to some nut and more autolytic flavors. Incredible clean, straight with good balance. For example, the candied fruit flavor, which I find not pleasant was a very much pleasant note amongst all the others. Excellent acid. Very enjoyable but I feel like I really enjoyed it to its fullest on the last few sips.

Good, but not great, B de B. Good concentration of fruit, flavorful and refreshing (like all Deutz wine) but no fireworks. Not worth the premium over the vintage and some other producers' NV bottlings.

Took to dinner at Splashes, Laguna Beach. We went through oysters, scallops, and white sea bass as accompaniments. Simply terrific all the way around. Generous and sexy bouquet, persistent mousse and energy with such a fantastic weight and feel in the mouth. Pure lemon croissant stretching into honeydew melon and pancakes... yum! A personal GOAT of champers. 5+13+19+9= 96

kiwi, pineapple and a tiny bit of matchstick on the nose. Lemon, gravel, and steeliness that lasts incredibly long. Faintest hint of toast. Clearly some dosage, but in balance. I really love this and it’s the most approachable 08 I’ve had so far

Light golden with fine bead. Nose a bit reduced funk at first, then notes of stone fruit, primarily yellow peach. Palate rounded, a bit of toasty brioche, yellow stone fruit, bright acidity; with time a stony minerality and some hints of citrus pith. Still very young but hinting at its potential, great depth already. 92 pts with upside.

Drinking super young. Precocious, and I feared the dosage too high at first; however, it plumped up and filled out after being open for an hour. Well balanced, but I wanted a bit more va-va-va-voom.

Acker April 2019 (Marea in NYC): Another wine that is just much too young to be drinking. It did seem to soften with some time, but we'll hold our other bottle for a number of years. It's very acidic at this point. Very lean. Lemon and citrus, but with too much crispness to be able to fully enjoy them.

IMW 2018 Champagne - Prestige Tasting (Hyatt, San Francisco): $189 Pale straw color. Medium intensity green apple, slightly reductive nose (faint match). Clean. Bright yellow lemon on the palate. Feels 7g. High acid. Not a lot of autolytic impact and feels less-than-perfectly integrated.

Sampling the December 8, 2017 new releases (små partier) from Systembolaget (Systembolaget, Stockholm): Exciting nose with both veggies and fruit. Its good now, even though the nose is a bit tight. Creamy, luxurious chard on the nose. Very energetic mousse with fine dense bubbles. Grilled lemons, warmer citrus. Maybe this needs some time. Softer than the Henriot on the initial palate, with broader shoulders and more fruit. But not completely developed. (90-94)

A very nice wine. Nice acidity, rather yellow than green apples, crushed rock. Perfectly balanced, complex and deep. Lots of potential as it's not showing everything today. The only drawback I would give it is that it lacked a bit of personality especially if comparing to Legras BdB Hommage and BdB '08.

Helblint. BYOB Mö-Gbg Roséflight i bonusformat
Färgen ser nästan artificiell ut. Karamellfärgad ton
Doften syrliga karameller, omogna sommarjordgubbar och lite trolldeg
Smaken syra, rabarber, röda vinbär, omogna krusbär
