Popped and poured with venison and duck cassoulet. Blew everyone away. Dark purple color. Dark cherry, licorice, and some earth on the palate. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Lesson: these LC wines can cellar for a long time.

Fantastic wine, not at all past the drinking window. The fruit was superb and very distinct - blueberry, strawberry. Balanced tannins and a 30+ second finish!

Big fruit forward style with a nice roasted element, but was kind of hot, making it a bit disjointed. Good with BBQ chicken, although a little overpowering.

Deep ruby with some orange. Very nice nose, led by spices: cinnamon, allspice. Next a plummy layer of dark fruit. And below that, some earthy, mushroomy tones. Awhile after opening, some completely welcome floral tones came in. Smooth and rich on the palate, showing that bottle age has paid off. Tobacco flavors, cherry pie, and a few chocolate notes in a rich stew. Finishes with a bit of rust and some cooked flavors over low tannins. This wine is showing very well right now. The date of this wine leads me to place Linne Calodo among the leaders of the Rhone Revival in Paso Robles. It's a very impressive bottle of juice.
Pop and pour - note after 4 hours. Nose of black fruit and some crushed rock but also stewed and candied fruits. A lot of pepper and spice on the palate. Probably at its peak.

Needed an hour of decanting, all alcohol during the first hour (15.8%). After it opened up, delicious, soft tannins, rich fruit. Would have been perfect with BBQ.

Just getting around to entering my tn (from a CT offline in Feb '12), and not surprised to see this is getting a lot of love. I won't rehash what's already been said except to say if you see some grab it, quickly, and if you have some, let me know where to go and when to go there and help you, erm, inspect it. Seriously, this is fantastic, for new and old world palates alike, there's something here for just about everyone. highly recommended, thru 2015

Full bodied with high ripeness, but has enogh acidity and tannin to balance it out nicely. I think the high level of grenache in this lightens up the syrah a bit and adds more complexity and layers on both the nose and the palate than the syrah dominated blends.

Shared with B & K at Terra Bistro. Server pulled the cork and her remark was "Wow!" We had it decanted for about 30minutes. Really rich nose with dark, rather "brooding" fruits. On the palate it struck me as very well balanced and echoed those dark fruits from the nose. There was also a significant "zing" on the finish of the first glasses, though it dissipated over the rest of the bottle. Three of us really enjoyed it, K - not so much - but that is the joy of varying personal tastes. In terms of Q/P/V... maybe not so good; pretty expensive. I purchased this at the winery for $10 more than the CT community average. I have certainly paid less for more memorable wine. But that is likely just a reminder to me to trust the guys at my local wine shop!

Drinking very well, especially the second night. The Grenache is front and center, and the alcohol gives it that classic Linne "tang." Jam, cherry, tangy candy, redvines.

Weird thing, ten months ago I was put off my feed by the sweetness and alcohol in this wine. Not so much tonight, and short of divine RO I can't figure out where it went. So there's some unfathomable improvement but it's still the oenological equivalent of a clown sock knock upside the head and now my problem is that the wife and sister in-law want more of it, damn.

big fruit up front.. plums, red berries, nice and velvety, a bit o heat on the nose and finish but still it stood up well tonight to all the old world stuff.. will let its twin sit for a few year. The wine looks Garnet colored. It smells like Raspberry, and Red Currant. It tastes like Raspberry, Red Currant, Plum, Phenolic, Alcohol/Hot, and Ethanol.

Popped and poured. Drank alone and with cheese. Clear dark ruby. Wonderful nose of cedar, espresso, anise and blackberry. Medium palate of blueberry, plum, espresso, and licorice. Very refined oak and mellow tannins. Good length and nice acidity. Will improve with another year or two in the cellar.

Greenblanket loved the rich fruit and Rhone-ish notes delivered by this wine - especially the ripe black olive flavors. Greenblanket did not love the sweetness and alcohol. Sweet Lord in Heaven! With these levels of sugar and alcohol this wine must have had the must weight of a TBA.

This was a tough one to decipher at this time, as the wine is just too young and tight. Not giving up much at all at this point. I decanted and only after about 2-1/2 hours did I start to get some fruit, but never did really get enough to characterize properly. A few more years in the cellar at least for the other bottles I have left.

We visited Matt in June, when Michael Young of L'Aventure arranged a tour after our visit there. Matt climbed wide and high with his syphon and gave us an array of tasting his magic. While we no longer had room for any more wine, while there he told us where it was avaiablein S Florida. I bought 2@ of the Rising Tide, Leona's, and The Outsider which were available here. Decanted in closed decanter for 1/2 hour. When I pulled the stopper from the decanter I was overwhelmed by an intense and yummy blueberry pie bouquet. At dinner it was delicious, but difficult to recapture that initial sensation.
