Popped and poured with some artisan pizza. Lots of oak, but fruit has faded. Now, in place of fruit is a bitterness. This is very similar to many early Washington state cabs, done by newer winemakers, spending too much time in Oak, not enough time working with the actual fruit.
Drink up, it’s all downhill from here.

Read my note from almost 5 years ago when I last drank a bottle. Could not have described what I was drinking tonight any better, except the herbalness blew off more quickly to reveal the tasty red and blue fruit flavors. Always great mouthfeel and a beautiful long juicy finish.

Similar to my prior note. Smoother and maybe more balanced.
1/12/2012 PnP. Dark purple color. On the nose, dark fruit and a little leather. On the palate, lighter and softer than I'd expect from a cab. Nice balance between dark fruit, oak, and spice. Good finish. Enjoyed this one - would've paired great with food, but delicious on its own. 89+pts Aloha!

Drank on day 1 and day 3. Wine was much better on day 3 and seemed to pull itself together and soften some of the harsher edges. Brooding black fruits with a bit of cherry, some earth and bit of smokiness.

Popped and poured. Touch of sediment in the bottom of the bottle, but not enough that it needed to be decanted. Deep purple core with a light magenta rim. The nose opened with a bit of pencil lead and then broadened to a strong aroma of green olives on hot asphalt. The palate has subtle flavors of blackberry, cranberry and a hint of oak. Medium weight mouth feel. Balanced acidity. Finish was strong but only lasted 15 seconds. Would purchase again.

Tasty tonight. A different take on cabernet with dark cool fruit, earth, coffee, motor oil, stems. No chocolate milkshake here. Plenty of fruit in a big but not heavy body framework. Balanced and a nice moderately long finish, this was easy to drink. Two hours in a decanter.

Opaque purple, subdued blackberry nose. Has been open, corked on the counter overnight. Semi dry, dusty blackberries, full bodied, bold fruit with a bit of bitter tannins on the finish. Most was used to marinade and braise a beef brisket in the slow cooker. Although this is my last bottle, I would suggest giving more time for the fruit and tannins to mellow. With more acid there would be better balance for my palate. It is a bit flabby on the finish and the bitter shows. I am happy to have used it for the braising pot.

Not quite sure what to do about this. Day 1: Probably an 85 - an alcoholic mess. Day 2: Still somewhat "hot" and disjointed but getting better. Day 3: Quite nice, softened a good deal. Gone is the isopropanol taste and its place are lawyer of dark fruit with a nice acidity and long finish. Would have been 91 on Day 3.

Pop/pour. On the nose, none of the "is this corked" masquerade. There is an odd funk....not quite a secondary sweat, but more reminiscent of cream corn that plays against dark red fruits. On the palate, dark and rich. Very nice fruit depth, with a brightness brought on by notes of dark cherry. Long and relatively smooth finish shows no heat. I like this, and am happy about the $20 price. With 5 bottles remaining, I view this as very strong in the "cellar saver" category. I'm hoping this is representative of my remaining bottles, because I seem to like this better than many other reviewers. 91+ points.

On first opening the nose shows sour currant, brambles, soy with some slightly creamy scents lingering in the background. The palate is similar with a semi-tart and spicy finish.
One day later the nose is reamy dark currant and light Asian spices with a palate of dark currant Asian spices and a dry cocoa finish.

First bottle was slightly flawed by TCA, so I had to open the second to compare. This is definitely a bruiser, needing several hours in the decanter to release some flavor. At first all oaky and hot. About hour 3 this had relaxed enough to be enjoyable. Lots of spicy cherry fruit, both on the nose and palate, with oak still prominent and showing espresso notes. Finish is sour cherries and a bit of heat lingering. Tannins are fine and have integrated well with the decanter time, just drying slightly on the finish.

Decanted 2 hours. Slight nose of TCA, along with the cherry fruit and oak. Flavors are a bit muted, with a sour, dankness flawing the cherry and oak flavors. Just slightly flawed by TCA, but enough to not be enjoyable. I think this is my first corked Garagiste wine!

2 hour decant. Herbal and funky on the nose with both red and blue fruit. The herbalness was still quite present in the first glass or two, but diminished as the night went on, and the fruit became more pronounced. Medium body. A combination of red raspberry, black cherry and blueberry. Some tobacco and licorice showing through on the finish. Very long lasting, fine tannins. Alcohol is well integrated. I think this wine has a lot of complexity for the price. Nicely done.

Same as last bottle. Medium-dark ruby red. The nose has red cherries, strawberry, and oak. The palate is nice, good balance, mostly red fruit, a good amount of oak. It's a little light, but has good balance, the fruit is nice and fresh. A little simple, but very good.

Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of fertilizer, currants, plums and a bit of barnyard. Flavors of black berries, black cherries and a bit of black raspberries. Ditto an earlier post, a meatiness on the nose upon immediate opening, fading quickly, leading to a combination of a waxy/soapy note, followed by candied red cherries mixed with some spices. Inherently less impressive and interesting the longer it remains open. The palate is soft and round, dominated by more ripe sweet cherry, some more spices, a candied like quality, however not big and overpowering, there is finesse here. A nice balance between evident oak coupled with good acidity makes this wine easy to consume and drinkable today.

Popped and poured. Paired with left over prime rib from the other night. Rich nose of cherry, blackberry and spice. Would like to give it a little more time to integrate the oak further. A nice wine, but seemingly a bit disjointed, at least this bottle. Something on the nose that reminds me of a corked bottle, but I don't think it is....it certainly didn't open up that way on the pop/pour. More fruit and more enjoyable than if it were flawed, but relatively tight nevertheless. Tempted to open up a second one for comparison....I'd call this one at around 88 points (second bottle close to 90 points), with potential improvement in a 2-4 years.
Update: G. liked it...both the first bottle I opened and the second as an experiment. Both have an odd note to me at this point. One that masquerades as "corked" but isn't...it's similar but not that strong, or "wine destroying". The second bottle seems marginally better, thought similar in overall flavor profile to the 1st. I think this will improve with time. However, for today....it's a nice pairing with the right hard cheese....better that way than on its own.

Light and lithe, cherries, raspberries, and strawberries. Darker in color than it tastes. This was really nice, with a rather acidic finish that I found quite nice. Not especially complex, and a bit bitter on day 2. But great for drinking now. I think if paired with the right meal, this would really shine.

Lovely berry and pencil lead in this great value Cabernet. Really came together after an hour or so in the decanter. You could sit on this, but I'm inclined towards drinking sooner (with decanting) to enjoy the ripeness.

I really dig this wine. I purchased this from the Garagiste and it makes up for Mystery Wine No. 2 and then some. Nice nose of brambles and black fruit. Layers of black fruit with earth. A little bit of an alcohol component on the back end but I'm predicting/hoping that this will integrate as this wine spends a little more time in the bottle.

Impression only but agree w/ previous two notes. Not complex but well balanced, not tart but not cloying, rich fruit but not heavy. Nice chewiness from the mid-palate on. From Garagiste at twenty bones, great qpr.

I don't know why this is, but I've become accustomed to wines in the $20 - 25 price range being inconsistent. The good ones are pretty good, but the bad ones tend to always have at least one of the following problems - too much oak, diluted, over ripe, out of balance or too much heat. This Fall Line actually has none of that. It's not horribly complex, nor is it a wine to be cellared, but it is a very good wine. Big cherry up front, dissolving mid-palate into a rounder, darker fruit and finishing with a smooth, zero-heat, peppery finish. A very elegant wine for the price. Quite impressed with this wine and definitely feel like my blind buy from Garagiste paid off on this one. If you can find it, it's well worth a try.

Popped and poured. First glass was just filled with aromas of cold smoked meats. There was a certain rawness to the meaty elements. It was a bit like walking into Salumi's in Seattle. On the palate there was more smokiness, but there was a hint of sweet red cherries on the back of the profile. Throughout the night the fruit came more to the front and the primal qualities fell more into a supporting role. Would purchase again.

Medium-dark ruby red. The nose has red cherries, strawberry, and oak. The palate is nice, good balance, mostly red fruit, a good amount of oak. It's a little light, but has good balance, the fruit is nice and fresh. A little simple, but very good.

Dark reddish purple color. The noae has black cherry cedar and spice notes. The palate is similar with a sweetish dry finish
The nose develops some pie cherry and peat bog and the palate builds bold dark fruit and a slight cola and coffee character.
