Drinking very well, mature, tail end of secondary phase. Plenty of guts to go 5 more years at least. Cork was soaked through, sunk in a bit, with a thimble of wine on top, but the wine in the bottle was no worse for the wear. Paired nicely with stir fry with a brown sauce.

Lovely stuff. Deep golden color. Lovely nose of pineapple, quince, and butterscotch. Slightly off dry, but with a wonderful balanced acidity. Flavors of golden delicious apple, pineapple, Myer lemon, butterscotch with mild hints of sarsaparilla and petrol. Peak drinking window with another 3-5 years ahead of it. Great value!

Drank from my cellar with Thai food tonight. In a killer place, teetering between early secondary notes and true maturity. Hybrid golden delicious and granny smith apple... some nice petrol in the background... complex and aromatic on the nose, full(-) bodied on the palate without the lingering effect of heavily charred or new oak... and with a finish that lasts 30-45 seconds. For the $15-20 you hopefully paid for it, this is a great wine. Ready to roll now, plus up to 10 years depending on how mature you like it.

Trippeldekantert.

Opened the day before consum to get rid of the characteristic Prüm-stink. Pale lemon yellow. Shows a strong mineral aroma with some citrus below. A little tropical fruit can be sensed from deep behind. Great acidity and well balanced. Can be fully enjoyed now as it has developed nicely from last bottle. Perfect match with crabs. Will hold for several years.

Popped my final bottle on NYE at an Asian place. Went very well with the Pad Thai Noodles. Got the big petrol on the nose again. Also had a slight bit of funk upon my first sip that blew off after a few minutes. Some stone fruit, and a nice roundness to it. Thought this to be a winner. sorry it was my last bottle

The nose is just BRUTAL on the pnp--way tougher than the typical petrol. More like car exhaust and dirty, black motor oil. If you get past that, and the wine moves toward room temp, there's some really nice fruit--apple, apricot, lime pulp, on the palate. Saving a couple of glasses for tomorrow, let's see what happens. . May decant the next bottle an hour or so. Edit: The nose may have mellowed a bit on Day 2, but it also may have migrated to the palate. A shame the nose is killing a decent wine. Tough to score. Off bottle?

NobleRottersSydney - German night (Alio's, Surry Hills): AP 18 08 [9%, cork, A$80] {Gordon} This is a step down the hierarchy from the previous Badstube Kabinett, but the extra few years bottle age has rounded things out considerably. There’s some development to the bouquet here, with flowers, white petals and granny-smith apple aromas now evident without the sulphur. The palate still has plenty of acid, and a steely backbone enforces the clean malic/apple flavours, which are pure and limpid as a mountain stream. Medium-length, off-dry finish. Should drink beautifully for 3-5 more years at least.

No formal note taken, one of two bottles consumed with Christmas dinner at in-laws. Though this bottle had signs of cork seepage it still displayed Riesling's typical petrol nose, slightly sweet on the palate with green apple and licorice flavors. (88-90)

Opened two bottles with a "Feast of Seven Fishes" dinner. Decanted one briefly and the second - which, upon opening at the same time, seemed far more funked and rubbery and reduced - for about an hour+. Served a round of the first bottle, which was very good but not exceptional, and hoped the second would eventually match it, but it continued to lag by a couple of points. Apple/peach, floral, lime, petrol. Food friendly, but not shining tonight. 85/87

PnP and had with Kung Pao chicken. Upon opening, I can't believe what a strong aroma of petrol. Perhaps the strongest I have ever gotten. On the palate, this wine tastes worlds better than the 08 that I had previously had. Pretty sweet for a Kabinett, but a nice amount of acidity keeps it in balance. Peaches, maybe even some tropical fruit. Delicious, and an outright robbery at the JJB private client sale price....Very sorry I didn't order more...

Nice light yellow color, on the pop and pour, the overwhelming aroma is petrol. After some time in the glass, the petrol blows off leaving bright lime and grapefruit and rocks you can smell. The palate has a nice off-dry sweetness, but backed by a solid acidity that isn't overdone. There's also a firm blue stone minerality to it. There is nothing bold about this wine, and it isn't in-your-face or over-the-top. This is all about Mosel valley elegance and a deft, almost ethereal balance of flavors. Spectacular, but in an understated and unassuming way. This wine is a home run, and I like it more now than I ever have. An absolute steal at $13, I'm seriously considering re-upping at the current online price of $20.

Really nice Riesling kabinett from Mosel at that price. Need to decand because of the sulfites but after that open nose with lemon, green apple, some flowers and a nice smell of petro and slate. Delicate in the mouth with superb balance between acidity and residual sugar. Nice length.

Very pale yellow in the glass, this wine smells of white peaches, mineral oil, honeydew, asian pear, with a trace of grapefruit and some floral aspects. A nice, complex nose on this, actually. On the palate, plenty of peaches continue, plus some guava and stone fruit. There are also some traces of grapefruit and a bit of latex tubing. Not terribly sweet, it also isn't the very driest riesling I've ever had, either. Overall, this is better on the nose than on the palate, but really quite nice on both. The length is a little shorter than I'd like, and I would like the palate to be a bit deeper, but this is good stuff. It is well-balanced, with good acidity, but won't rip your face off. Nice wine, and a great deal for the WTSO price of $13, shipped. I'm glad I have more of these.

This bottle was a bit better than the last. Great petrol notes on the nose with an inherent oily texture. Bright yellow and white fruits, lemon zest, waxy melons and more petrol notes. Great oily texture on the palate, touch of sweetness and hints of bottle spritz. Just starting to add some secondary characteristics, great value.

Fairly pale yellow in glass. On the nose a good hit of petrol, surrounded by some floral action as well as some apricot-like scents. On the palate you get a fairly viscous and sweet attack. Solid mid-palate, moderate-length finish with solid acidity.
Overall quite enjoyable, if a bit simple. I'm nonetheless quite pleased with my purchase at ~13 a bottle.

Pretty nose of tropical fruits with white peach, guava, mangos and lemon zest. Touch of classic petrol with some accents of candle wax. On the palate there is a bit of spritz on the entry but not offensive. Palate is a touch flabby but still really nice with a cool oily texture, hints of clove and plush white fruits. Steal of a wine at $12, I regret only buying 6 bottles.

A pleasant nose of peach and a hint of petrol. Waves of fruit, a hint of sweetness, but really just pure fruit, apple, lemon, pineapple, and a touch of minerality late on the finish. For $13, this was a killer deal, and I wish I had bought more.

Very pale, nearly clear. After a bit of breathing gives a quiet honeysuckle and tangerine peel nose, slate. Seemed to have a lot of body for a 9% ABV. After about 48 hours from original opening was displaying a good bit of petrol. 87-88 for now with upside.
Sulfur/petrol muck on the nose that starts to blow off with some time. A good dose of acidity on the palate makes this a bit tight for current drinking. I think it will be much better in 3-5 years. 88 for current drinking, 90-91 for potential. Update Day 5: actually much better for my tastes. More rounded and approachable. Not the first time a bottle of nice riesling has been forgotten in the fridge to good effect.

The nose is typical of this region with some petrol and a blend of green apples and lemons. A little floral action as well. The palate is clean and crisp. Not too sweet, but lacking the acid that I prefer in my rieslings. Good dose of green apple flavors. Not a long finish. A good buy at $13, but not at $23.
Nose: Honeysuckle, chalk, lime, sulfur, petrol, green apples. Palate: Lime, apples, hint of tropicality, excellent acidity on the attack. A bit of an empty mid-palate gives way to seltzer-y, lime finish. Lots of hard orange/lemon candy lingers on. If you like your kabinett closer in dryness to Alsatian riesling, then this should be right up your alley. With some air and warmth though, just enough fruit and sugar soften it up.
This was pretty serious stuff, which surprised me a bit. For whatever reason I was expecting something more straightforward. And a bit sweeter. Whether you'll like this wine will depend, I think, on how dry you like your Riesling. I thought this one was pretty dry. Starts off with considerable petrol aromas backed by citrus. On the palate, lots of lime sherbet, grapefruit and flat ginger ale. Considerable zing with a touch of acidity. Wanted to like it more than I did, but overall a solid effort from Germany.
It is very good, but just not an exceptional JJ Prum. It is immediately recognizable with its lime, minerality, petroleum, oiliness, but a bit simple for a winery which usually turns out higher caliber juice for its regular Kabinett. Enjoyable? Yes. Superior? No.

Another lovely bottle...but it needed some air. I would think about decanting this if you open a bottle right now. It clearly evolves and showcases it's charm with some time in a decanter

Incredible value, fantastic petrol nose with gobs of mineral. Apple and pear on the palate with the finish screaming of granny smith apple skin and wet marble.

Heavy on the petrol smell, but went real well with chicken dinner and on its own afterward. I would buy again if it was on sale.
btw, I dont drink whites, very very rarely.

Color: pale yellow
Smell: Petrol, slate, lemon, and green apples.
Taste: Lime, quince, green apples, and lemon.
Overall: This wine really impresses me. There is a lively verve of acidity at the core with pure fruit flavors and a medium length finish that is crisp and refreshing. I am starting to wish I had purchased more...

Shared with a friend today and was not dissapointed.
Color: Pale yellow almost onion skin in color.
Smell: Petrol, pear, green apple, and lime
Taste: Lemon, quince, pineapple, white peach and a melange of tart fresh fruits.
Overall: I'm quite pleased and impressed by this wine. While I would not pay over $20 for it I am glad that I secured a half case of it at $17.

Lacks acidity/crispness of a 90+ Riesling - otherwise nice but not too complex.

It is very good, but just not an exceptional JJ Prum. It is immediately recognizable with its lime, minerality, petroleum, oiliness, but a bit simple for a winery which usually turns out higher caliber juice for its regular Kabinett. Enjoyable? Yes. Superior? No.

Nose of white peach and asparagus. Floral and mineral dominate with some peach on the finish. Very tight, needs a lot of decanting.
