  • This wine went wonderfully well with beautifully-prepared Chinese. It had a bit on harshness on the back end that detracted from what, otherwise, was a rich, enjoyable wine.

  • Great Cab. Worth waiting on.

  • This bottle was in a great spot, with cassis, tar and smokey notes on the nose. The palate still had grippy tannins, though well balanced with the fruit and oak flavours. Long finish of savoury spice. Took a little while to open up though. Have one more bottle to see if it goes any further, but it's doing well now - no need to wait any longer.

  • Rich dark garnet in glass, rich plums, cassis, soft powdery dark earth, mossy. Somewhat quiet with first pour, but blooms with after an hour or so, revealing violets, dark roses and hints 5-spice.
Palate, while aged, is still developed with exotic roast meat spices - cumin, galangal, tumeric, along with deep dark prunes, black plums, earthy, cigar box, cedar shavings, sweet roasted capsicum, christmas cake. Meaty leathers, licorice, and hints angelica root, and even a tinge of eucalypt menthol just for terroir. Quite likely peaked, but still drinking very well, luscious and certainly intact, now showing somewhat more transparency and aged gosssamer textures than previous bottles - like a superhero who has aged well. Special, and emotionally satisfying (survived the shock move from Syd to Sg 12 months ago).

  • Initially - very odd and tight. Odd on the nose and closed on the palate. Almost poured it down the drain, thinking it might be very mildly corked. Left it on the shelf for a couple hours with favorable results.

After a couple hours - a nice bit of menthol overlaying decent Cab fruit. Shows some benefits from cellaring - a mellowing that makes this a treat. That said, for this price this is ok, not great at this point in its life.

  • Decanted briefly. One of those wines with a great nose and a mediocre palate. The nose has reductive black cherry and black raspberry, eucalyptus, mint and chocolate, like a Thin Mint. But the palate is austere, dry, evolved, and volatile. Will try a long decant next time.

  • Needs 5 more years and 5 hours decanting

  • I am big fan of this! Especially with grilled rib eye steak. Deep ruby colour with garnet rim. Nose is developed with dried fruits, pine and some mint and dark plum jam. Smoot and very balaced palate is a delight. Definitely at it's peak when you compare this to 1998 which is still a youngster compared to this one.

  • Drank at Ned WWS tasting, and was 1 of the faves of the nite. Inky dark color, no signs of age on the pour. Nose of ripe black fruits, eucalyptus, some wood and spice. On the palate, gobs of black fruit, black currant, some oak but not interfering with the wine's fine structure or balance at all. Good complexity. Spicy with a lot of eucalyptus, and a certain earthiness. I was very surprised at how well this wine has aged, and really enjoyed it. It still has at least a few years to go, though drinking wonderfully now

  • Inky deep dark garnet in glass, with an unusual nose of coconut shavings, ash and luscious black fruit. Bright acids on the taste, without much fruit or tannin initially, but showing some capsicum typicity and rich loamy earth, ending on savory leather. Sweet dark fruit - plums, blackberries, dark cherries - emerge later with some time in the glass. Probably peaked ~3 years ago, still has some decent intensity and power, wait no longer - drink now!

  • Lovely and mature now. I think it is at its peak though. Cork soft and lots of sediment. Some bricking round the rim. Full cab nose and a long finish with tannins fully integrated. Would drink up any I had left.

  • Blind Tasting - 2000 Vintage in Australia; 6/30/2012-7/1/2012: A nose of sawdust, coconut, blackcurrant and cherry. Medium bodied, quite savoury, with oak and tannin still present and supporting. There isn't much depth to it right now and I can't see it significantly improving in that aspect. I think this will be at its best over the next 2-3 years.

  • Touch of funk on the nose gives way to some other old world notes. oak with light chocolate and caramel. Violet and VA.
Big full tannins with good acid. Long finish. Surprisingly Bordeaux like for an ausie.

  • On the nose, initial secondary sweat with a sweet almost floral perfume note cutting through. On the palate, smooth and quite lush mouthfeel after 30 minutes in the glass. Noticeable eucalyptus adds a brightness and complexity to a dark, resinous mid palate. Longish finish. A nice expression of cabernet. Dark and full bodied without being over oaked or over-engineered. While this will surely last for a number of years, it seems to be entering its peak drinking phase. 92+ points.

  • This is a charmer with its compelling nose of hefty black fruit; pronounced cassis notes as well as mulberry and blackberry and an earthy, savoury edge. Despite what the nose suggests this is neither bold nor overbearing with ripeness. Accessible and exuberant with fine, well integrated tannins, bracing acidity and a long, elegant, fruit driven finish.

  • Excellent example of a nicely aged Coppermine Road. Many years left to this wine I think. Still very dark in the glass and giving a nose of graphite that showed on the palate as well. Dark fruit and a hint of eucalyptus as well. Very well integrated tannin and just in a great place to drink right now.

  • Good cabernet sauvignon showing some orange colors of age. It has an attractive bouquet that gives some complexity due to its age and is a leaner wine on the palate than I expected with acidity to work well with food.

  • Powerful and invitingly fragrant nose of red and blue fruits, liqueur. Palate more restrained, still good fruit, also quality leather and a small hint of tobacco. Soft, slightly fluffy tannins and nicely balanced acid lead in to a very long finish. I tasted this while preparing a roast leg of lamb marinated in mint sauce, and then drank alongside the lamb at dinner. 20 minutes after my last sip of wine and last bite of lamb, the flavours of both were still playing out on my tongue. A delightful combination. Last 1/3 of bottle still good after a night in the fridge, though less fragrant on night two, slightly better overall on night one.

  • A great example of how beautiful Coppermine Road can age. This was still full of live, with plenty of red and dark fruit, but also showed some nice characteristics of age like tobacco leaf and leather. Warm and full, but with good (minty) freshness. Fine grained tannins. Wonderful to drink now.

  • 91+. This was pretty darn good. Tannins largely resolved. Nice citrusy orange juice element and ripe medium red to dark red fruit, but not jammy. Not black fruit. Showing a bit of age and peak drinking now. Doubt it will improve much unless you like aged characteristics. Some elements similar to an aged bordeaux with more of a red fruit shading. Very good juice. 91-92. Not the structure, complexity or layers of flavor to merit more right now, but clearly 90+ in my mind.

  • Drinking well right now. Plenty of up front berry fruit with a background of complexity and only a hint of tannin.

  • Amazingly dark inky purple colour for the age; sweet ripe cassis, plums and black cherries on the nose, with tobacco leaf, mint and eucalyptus. Thick, complex and structured on the palate, with a great core of sweet ripe fruit, but backbone with it. The fruit masks the (I would guess) pretty high acidity, and there are some muddy but not intrusive tannins. Good finish. This exceeded my expectations and I was left wishing I had a couple of bottles to stash away for another 10 years.

  • Drank uncritically at my father-in-laws birthday celebration, but brief thoughts - more advanced than my last bottle in 2006 with plenty of mature fruit, gripping tannin, and excellent acidity.

  • Powerful, rich, spices and tobacco, deep and creamy, full of black fruits, juicy, extracted. Classic exotic Aussie Cabernet. Now - 2010.

  • WS got this one wrong (an 86)! Fantastic liqueur-like berry fruit, and mature tannins combine for a very nice classic new world Cab. Still has aging potential - a shame it's my last bottle :(

  • This wine was decanted, the nose was so fragrant people could smell it walking into the room. strong scents of kirsch liquor, blueberry pie, asian spice, eucalyptus, vanilla and oak. Not as strong as the nose, the palate was a mix of ripe berries, blackpepper, oak with tartness, gripping tannins and a moderate finish.

  • Dark red turning the lightest pink towards the edge. A restrained but complex nose of blackcurrent, herb, spice-box and alcohol. Elegant on the palate, showing tremendous structure and balance. An initial sweet fruit attack gives way to an underlying herbaceousness; with dusty tannins on a dry, savoury, medium-length finish. A very fine example of a medium to full-bodied Australian cabernet sauvignon.

  • Deep, dark ruby colour; almost black. Huge nose of cassis, anise, leather. Medium-full bodied with well integrated tannin. Good fruit in the mouth with a medium finish.
