From a perfect conditioned bottle. Nah - this isn't worth today's price tag. Bit hard, smelly on the nose, tad of red fruit, rustic with acidic cut but just not pleasant aromatically. Followed over two days.

November Gevery Tasting: Double decanted and drank over 3 hours. It is pure class. This opened up nicely and was everything you'd expect from a top producer. Layered, focused, and completely in balance. This was beautiful. Every time I have a village wine from a top producer I tell myself I need to be drinking more of these. Drink now.

Same bottle as Chablis28 and Rocknroller. Popped about an hour before pouring. Pretty from the moment poured, but light and demure. Gained intensity as it sat in the glass, with each taste getting better than the previous one and ended up being quite impressive. Quite impressive.

This needed sometime in glass to impress. it started out a little funky but over time resolved into the tell tale Rousseau elegance and soilly minerality and spicy red fruit. This evolved from questionable to quite lovely. Very enjoyable! I didn't let Dave share this with the kitchen because I could see it heading to the right place.

A Mostly Grand Cru French Night at Heirloom (Heirloom, St.Paul, MN): Medium maroon red color with some bricking. PNP, drank 1 glass over 75 minutes. This was the most remarkable transformation of the night and pretty stunning in general. This started off skanky and very vegetal with light sour red fruits that couldn't stand up. What happened was downright amazing. It took about 30 to 45 minutes but this developed a clean nose with crushed rose petals, dried leaves, and pure red cherry. The palate is spot on adding raspberry coulis notes. Integrated, long and excellent. Gotta get this some air and then enjoy. 92+pts.

I was anxcious to open this bottle, since I bought it recently at a bargain price and was not certain on its storing history. Thank God, it was decently preserved. Light-medium garnet. Elegant and attractive nose with strawberry, forrest floor, smoke and red cherry. Medium-bodied and round with silky tannins, high acidity and a satisfying aftertaste. Really enjoyable and ready to drink.

Needed a short decant to start opening up. The nose was elegant and enthralling with plenty of cherries and a little mature notes of bacon and some forest floor. The palate was balanced and long, the fruit well defined and precise and just enough acidity keeping it fresh. Village wine doesn't get much better than this.

Sunday afternoon at the Sampler (The Sampler, South Ken, London): The beautiful nose is what we will remember this wine as. So open and expressive yet dark, smoky oh so lovely gevrey. Unfortunately the palate doeasnt follow and it comes on time to remind you this is a village, albeit a special and expensive one. Dnt overpay. 91 and drink up

I'm with Spam. Although this had a beguiling nose. Very sexy, red fruit, sandalwood and nutmeg. Such great promise. But on the palate this failed to deliver much of anything. It was singular, dominated by acidity. The fruit that might have once been interesting had faded, but nothing much has stepped up to fill the void. Maybe missed the window on this one.

Cuvee Offline Dinner (Cuvee Restaurant, Napa, California): This was brought to the Napa offline at Cuvee on Monday by Pinot Envy. This was one of 3 1998 Burgundies that we drank over the course on my Napa trip and it was by far the best of the 3. The deepest and most complex of the 1998's this weekend. This wine had a great purity about it. It was elegant without being feminine. Notes of berry, black cherry and lightly oaked. Good round finish. 93-94 points.

Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2009-10; Burgundy, Côte de Nuits. (By VD): The bouquet is really inviting and complex. In the mouth there is red ripe fruit, but also a lot of dairy. Sour milk or yoghurt. Not really a pleasure drinking it. No score

Burgundy Tasting (Vineyard Gate in Millbrae, CA): Again, lacking in interesting structure. Fruity, but uninteresting.
