Dark cherry red color with faint translucence. Earthy, berry nose. Dark fruited on the palate, black cherries, blackberry, tobacco. Gets brighter with air. The cherry fruit comes more to the fore. Smooth tannins, bright acidity, excellent balance. Finishes long, long, smoky and dark-fruited. Fully mature. Give it lots of air. Throwing fair amount of sediment. Drink over the next 3 years.

Really impressive aged cab - pronounced eucalyptus and menthol notes (in the best of ways) - not over the hill by any means, but best to drink now. A quick 30 - 60 min decant to remove sediment suffixed. Didn’t need a lot of opening up.

Intriguing nose with anise and cassis, the palate is intense and savoury, filled with charcoal, anise, black olives, tobacco and tar. The drying fruit component and still present tannins are struggling to find balance. Still enjoyable but now probably is a good time to consume these.

A beautiful old Napa Cab. Opaque dark red in color, hardly any fading at the edges. Licorice and black cherry on the nose. The dark fruit is still lush, but not at all jammy. Black cherries, blackberry, semi-sweet chocolate, cassis. Smooth tannins, nice acidity, fine balance. The finish is moderately long, but subtle, cherry and anise. A lovely old cab, rich and smooth. Doesn't look like it will be heading south over the next 3 to 5 years, perhaps longer depending on your palate preferences.

Holiday Champagne Gala (Park Ridge Country Club): Small late night taste, brief note. Fun mature black fruit with a charming mint note. Good length, weight and balance.
