Absolutely incredible on pop and pour. Pure Raveneau white burg heaven - haunting smoky yellow plum, green apple, seaspray, iodine, oyster shell. On the palate - waxy smoky salty yellow fruit. Incredible creamy/waxy texture yet buttressed by intense chalk and minerals. Finish goes on for days. Flirting with perfection.

A stunning wine, a contender for my white of the year. The overall impression is one of purity and delicacy. The nose starts with some fine pear drops, a little oyster shell and some subtle pineapple core sweetness / tartness / greenness. With time there is something ever so slightly honeyed, acacia honey, I think. Also some white currants and something more savoury that reminds me of carved turkey.
The palate is delicate, saline and perfectly, perfectly balanced. Puckering acidity still after 17 years and texturally fine. There is a slight tutti frutti lift that charms. Outstanding. Enjoyed over 90 mins with oysters, cod cheeks and comté.

A good Raveneau but it is overshadowed by a more powerful 05 Vaillons. Seashell, citrus, minerals and stone fruit. Compact and precise with moderate weight and power.

Again, it is overshadowed by the 05 Vaillons in blind. On a standalone, it is a good Raveneau nevertheless.
