  • PNP into Riedel Yoichi glass ("Flower" day): Bright golden to the eyes.

Assortment of organic citrus fruits like ripe grapefruits, lemon oil and rinds, smoke and flint. Hints of popcorn, yogurt and butter in the freshest possible manner.

Needless to mention the high acidity and minerality, long laser focused finish. This is already drinking quite well now with good hedonistic element likely from this particular parcel.

Still young but I can imagine this will be great in 3-5 years. Prove to the great food companion with ham-wrapped strawberries and scallops terrine. 94-95 points.

  • Out of a magnum that had been opened the day before. Tasty, but ultimately kinda boring for a wine of this pedigree and expense.

  • Nose: Citrus, steel, mint, orchid, orange rind, pineapple, cheese, creamed corn, ricqles
Notes: 13% ABV I have to start with a disclaimer to say that I was never a big fan on Raveneau wines. It is perhaps a little too full of minerality and sometimes a little stiff. The 2016 was no exception and has quite a heavy Ricqles taste hence overly minty and aggressive on the nose. It surely is quite young as suggested by both the color and the palate but I highly doubt I would enjoy this stylistically even if it was mature. Another 7-8 years should be allowed in order for this wine to be mature and ready to be drank.

  • Drank from magnum. A bit of air certainly helped bring this to life -- this was rich and creamy, the first thing that came to mind for me was a plump oyster, with great minerality and mild acidity. Ravenueau delivers once again, vintage notwithstanding!

  • Light yellow with a greenish hue. Opulent nose of tropical fruit, ripe green apple and lemon zest. Intense and chewy palate, with a long finish. A powerhouse. This needs time.
