Wine Ark lunch…semi-St.Estephe (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): Apricot, touch of lychee, animal/musky notes and sweet spice on the nose. I the mouth it's juicy, fresh, savoury, slightly bitter with alcohol warmth, savoury with poached apricot and lychee. Very long finish. With time (we also decanted this) it starts to show a lovely toasted apricot note. Lovely. Exceedingly impressive.

At Beddington AMS. Yellow straw colour. Heavy sweet fruits in the nose with nuts and fresh pineapple. Full in the mouth, complex, nice minerality. Long and spicy finish.

YES->NO. This baby is close to death as suggested by drink dates. It almost seemed to wilt in the glasss. Out of the bottle, zesty and quite a good White. You could sense that condieu thing, but I must admit the best vigonier I have had recently has been from Oz (virigilus).

Quite enjoyed this. Textured palate and well integrated oak and acidity with a mature profile. I thought it was showing as well as a white Burgundy of the same age and relative quality.

Christmas lunch with the wine ark boys (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): Apricot, honey, truffle, slightly dill note. Same on the palate with that dill note a little more pronounced, textured mid palate, this one is a little soft for me - though that may be the contrast with the Vouvray.
