Nose: Stewed plum and blood, blackcurrant jelly. Palate: Oxidized plum, gritty tannins that fade quickly, warm raisin in the background, burnt coffee. On day two, the flavors become better integrated with a nice red berry sweetness replacing the oxidized plum, and making for a much more enjoyable wine than on day one.

deep ruby colour and medium-plus body. red currant and raspberry mingle with bouquet-garni in an inviting nose… though at moment it is very dense and tannic in mouth. in the back end and long finish the wine lets one have a peek at the cornucopia that time will reveal: plum and raspberry fruit layers laced with savoury, earthy and herbal notes in a harmonious, elegant stream.
this has fruit and structure for decades, and at the moment still needs at least a couple of years… it's clearly on the excellent range, edging to outstanding.
14.5% AbV; 94% Mourvèdre/ 6% Grenache; some vines are ~100 y.o.

(at Vin Rouge - Durham). A fabulous wine and terrific bargain at this lovely French Bistro. Good fruit mixed with warm earth and surprisingly accessible. Deep, saturated uet with nice lift. Has a long future ahead yet no issues drinking right now. Dig this. (93)
