Excellent wine. Needed 5 hours of air to really start to come around. Let sit upright for 2 years in cellar before opening on this grand celebration. Used Durand, but cork was in excellent condition. Over 1/3 of the bottle could not be decanted clear, due to very fine sediment that tainted the rest of the bottle.
At first is had very off notes of volatility. This blew off after about 3 hours.
It was a gorgeous Barolo. Energy, depth, levity with all the classic aged Nebbiolo quality that I love. Copious exotic herbs and touches of flowers with those underworld strings coating the tongue.
I drank the cloud portion too, but was not as good. Then I drank the dregs which were delish. I could never let such go to waste. My body deserved all the nutrients in those black chunks.

Clear, medium brick with oxidized rim, almost the color of a sherry. Sour cherry, wet firewood, mushroom, coffee, caramel, toffee on the generous nose. The fruit is still quite bright and red with oxidized notes of caramel, coffee, some chocolate and sweet spice. Acid is still kicking with mellowed tannins and a long finish. Popped and let it evolve in the glass. Tons of sediment so I recommend decanting. Enjoyed this!

What a treat. Decanted and immediately open for business. Lots of red berries and fruit, balanced by acid. Showing remarkably well despite its age. Not very complex but fun and delicious when paired with braised veal cheeks tonight.

Vin correct pour son âge. Un peu gâché une pointe d'acidité en finale.

Vin parfait dès l’ouverture de la bouteille. Il s'est un peu oxydé après 3 heures d'aération.
