Wine is drinking well now, but unfortunately had this after a Hartwell Res '04, and this wine is clearly less balanced. The tannins are a bit sharp in the early body and some heat lingers through the finish. Sadly the fruit is already fairly subdued so in the race between fruit longevity and tannin softening, it appears the fruit is losing. I still have half a case of this, so it will be good to drink and see if softer tannins allow more fruit to come through.
I liked this. Big and straight forward napa cab. Black fruit up front. Gritty tannins. Dark chocolate intertwined with hints of leather. This could go another 5-10yrs and it would still be in its prime. Long lingering finish as well. Not sure why everyone was rated so low but it was pretty darn good.
Nice big not big nose of black currant. Soft plum and overripe black cherry at the front. Oak smoke and anise mid palate. Long on the finish but with a metallic acidic finish. Deep purple in color well beyond a red. This one has probably reached its maximum potential and is somewhere between enjoyable and serious. A bit disjointed but with a very attractive nose and initial taste.
