Drank a glass poured from a freshly opened bottle at The Pied Piper restaurant bar in the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. I paired it with a great burger. I was thinking beer, but figured that visiting San Francisco, I owed it to myself to try the bar Cabernet!
The nose has cedar, leather and graphite. The tannins are medium. I suspect this will evolve positively in the next 5 years. The palate has lots of blueberry and blackberry but layered somewhat and not well integrated. There's a touch of mocha on the back end.
Not a horrible bar wine overall!

Nose: fresh cedar stands out immediately with cassis, rounded out by sage, leather and graphite. Great aroma
Very soft and smooth texture that turns into a nice finish that is not nearly as dry as moth cabs this age or previous vintages of this. Ripe blackberries and blueberries give way to more bitter flavors like mocha.
A little sweeter and less dry than previous vintages but it is also much more approachable.

Medium purple color. Medium purple color. The nose exudes smoky earth, mocha and coffee grounds over top of dark plums and saucy black cherries. Fresh and vibrant approach on the palate with smooth, velvety tannins. A plush feel with deep blackberry and plum fruit. Notes of spicy tobacco, earth, sage, roasted chestnut add complexity. Vibrant but complex, accessible young but a lot going on, too.

VERY good. Smells light, tastes like a big California cab.
