Perrot-Minot 2001-2005 Tasting (Chicagoland IL): In 01-05 vertical. Black and red cherry, clearly with bloody, roasted meat, even if just medium+ weight. I found an intriguing umami, mushroom character here as well. This was a more divisive wine than most, and I liked it more than most, even while wishing for more Grand Cru density and a bit less new oak treatment.

Deep black red. A powerful bouquet of rich and ripe black and dark red berry fruit and cherries, dark plums, some spicy oak, dark soil and a touch of tar. Very 2002 Grand Cru on palate. A dry, savoury entry. Cassis, black plums, mushrooms, prunes and a touch of cola. A prominent oak effect, still not fully integrated, with slightly bitter, grippy tannins on the finish. A suggestion of bitumen. Serious dry extract and concentration. Decent acidity. Earth and some Gevrey animale. Still a little monolithic. Ideally it could use 3-5+ more years. Characterful.

From MG. Young, juicy, plenty of strawberry, lots of Pinot-pleasure; people were guessing 2017, 2012 ...
