Drunk at The Fine Wine Experience Domaine J-L Chave Dinner at Amuse Bouche Hong Kong - Apparently not a renowned vintage but I enjoyed this more than the '05 and '89. The glycerin and lanolin combination paired extremely well with food.

PnP. Dark gold. Initially rather mute but with good palate presence. Over an hour or so the nose became more interesting but this is on its downward slope; not as good as bottle 4 years ago.

Acker Merrall June 2012 Chicago Auction (Waldorf Astoria - Chicago IL): Very mature aromas of ripe orchard fruit. Similar apple and pear flavors, also mature, seemingly past its peak drinking window if this bottle is representative. Still good textures and nicely spicy on finish.

Acker Auction (Waldorf Astoria - Chicago, IL): Seemed slightly oxidized. Lots of butterscotch, lychee, pear and lemon on the nose. Palate had lithe citrus, floral and roasted grain notes. Not sure this was 100% on today - then again, I had a sip about 2-3 hours after it was opened.

Popped and poured. Classic Hermitage blanc with depth and body but also still enough acidity to prevent the wine from being ponderous. Classic nose of wax and almonds, and lovely on the palate. Persisted very well over a couple of hours and seemingly at its apex, in no rush to drink up. Consumed along with the 96 and 98; clearly superior to the former and softer and more complex but with less tension than the latter. Excellent showing.
