Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): Darker core, cloudy rim, dull crimson rim; tarry, dark cherry, cranberry, nutty; firm tannin, medicinal, a hint of CdP in character, tarry finish, head, warm vintage; called Amarone just like before.

(Grill 23 – Boston) This, surprisingly, was a bit off. Classic Northern Rhone bacon fat and earth, but the palate was marred with a candy-like sweetness that is just not normal for this producer. I know the year was hot, and Voge (one of my two favorite producers or Cornas) did not handle it well based on this bottle. (87)

Medium core with 1/2" meniscus; cooked fruit, sweet, hints at minerality, dark and red fruit, soft tannin, Amarone-esque, good not great.

Rather plummy and portly. Sweet fruit. Still some minor tannins. Likely atypical, but enjoyable.
