Le petit sommelier de Paris (Le petit sommelier de Paris , Paris): Bruised apple. We don’t remember the time we said that as a first note when trying a wine. But it is ever so dominant on the nose and then continues with soft apricot, soft honey. The palate is very much firm and has the acidity to carry it for a long time and we we call this on the medium sweet level. Still bright and will last a few more summers and albeit we get the points made on lack of complexity this was also its beauty that it was not over trying or too much in our face. A very pretty experience and a good 91. Lots of life ahead.

Dr. Bob and Elaine Hudak dinner at Lavandou (Lavandou, Washington DC): Apple, honey and spice but no petrol. Quite fresh but lacks the depth and complexity.

8/01 very good w lobster. Mod sweet, rich, good acid. Lacks complexity or depth of better vintages. Could go more years.
