This is my first time trying Montevertine, and it completely shattered my expectations. This feels like it's close, but perhaps past its peak. Only 12.5%, excellent integration across the board, just the right amount of secondary and tertiary notes and a persistent red fruit core. WOTN!

Simplement grandiose pour son stade d'évolution! Déploie une gamme de notes tertiaires d'une grande complexité. Cuir, tabac, the, épices douces. Une bouche fondue, ample, une longueur interminable d'une grande complexité. Très briqué. Finesse et souplesse... Un vin méditatif.

Charcuterie lunch with Tim (Home (Noe st)): Medium minus garnet with tawny rim. Expressive, slight tamari-fig, sweet leathery red cherry. Dried roses and animal fur and leather and sweet tobacco on the nose. Sweet, savoriness from development. Dry, medium body, feels 13.5%, high acid, medium plus tannins - still grippy but fine-textured. Beautiful integration.

Yellow toned bricking on the edge that leads to a core of cloudy cayenne pepper red. Beautiful. Aromatics are subtle and cohesive. Rustic dusty smells of leather, tea, earth, brambled blue fruits, and very shy note of amaro like herbs.
Sweet fruited, mid weight, still has slight grip. Acidity is lower in this vintage but sweet lemons hold the delicate mid palate. The wine is very cohesive at this point and I would say this is right in the money zone.
Because of the lower acidity I would drink this soon if you have them. Tertiary notes are still in the background and I would be afraid they would start to overwhelm if they were too present in the wine.
I love Montevertine

Probably moving to a bit past it's prime, but still a gentle, lovely wine that opened up in the decanter
