Drinking my second bottle of this more than five years after my previous bottle. My friend and I drained a 2008 Yorkville Petite Sirah from Carlisle and it was so delicious, that it called for another Carlisle. I chose to go for this, as another full bodied Carlisle might be too much for us after the PS beast. And wow oh wow, has time served this wine well! As always, stored in a cool, Danish cellar after purchase on release. Very true to Grenache, it is a medium translucent garnet/ruby. I was a little surprised to see essentially no brincking on this 11-12 years old Grenache, not a variety I associate with the greatest ageability. Somehow, this wine didn't care about this at all! Nose was premium Grenache with great lift and pure, red, almost zappy fruits and not many aged notes to speak of. Palate followed up nicely and there were NO notes of oxidation, which I am sensitive to. What in the world! Such grace and poise after the PS, elegant, juicy, and highly enjoyable. Wish I had more as there were still many years left in this bottle
Unfortunately my last bottle of this beauty. Drank with braised pork shoulder. Mature fruit, spice and earth notes. Drinking at peak and simply delicious.

This was opened at dinner last night. It's completely aired out, I am enjoying the last few ounces from the bottle that sat under the open cork overnight. It's a touch warm perhaps, at 70f. Spicy, leather aromatics, with a texture that is smooth and polished, really no tannin anywhere that I can sense. Deep cherry, some orange peel that gives it a tangy, citrus note that marries really well with the cherry. This is aging beautifully and is one of the best Carlisle I can recall at 10 years of age, in a perfect drinking zone. Lovely.

Pnp. Really enjoyed. Glad I opened now not that it won’t last for a number of years still but it was in a good place. Lively freshness, red fruited, touch gamy, bright acidity, clean clean finish. Excellent with dinner. No heat at 14.9%. Honestly, wish I had more.
