Good concentration of fruit. Spearmint and blackberries, wee touch of cedar. Plum and raspberry, bell pepper, tannin slightly astringent. Medium acidity and length. Typical of its vintage, but all a bit dull.

Drack med Helen på revisionsmiddag. Kändes först omogen men efter timmar på karaff blommade det ut och blev stramt men väldigt bra. Klassiskt stram, men ändå mjuk i gommen. Bra balans men kunde vunnit på en aning mer frukt.

Coravin fun - Domaine de Chevalier rouge (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Red hued fruits, berry, cranberry, a little red plum, sweet spice, touch of slight herbaceousness, very slight creamy notes. Medium plus intensity acidity, slightly sour red fruits, softly textured woody burr; use of oak is well controlled, a little cream and herbaceous notes on the finish.

Notes of redcurrant, plum, red cherry and violet, plus some spring flowers, before a mouthful of much the same, medium bodied, touches of red spice, and overall a very charming wine full of the joys of spring. Not at all what I was expecting, it was very enjoyable indeed, perfect on a summer evening. I can think of several more lauded vintages I didn’t like as much. I was lucky - I found two at auction a few years ago for 26 euros a bottle, but even at the current price of 45 euros, I’d go back for more. I only bought three wines in 2013, so I can’t say how it ranked in the context of the vintage, but this is much better than Malartic-Lagravière.

Coravin fun - Domaine de Chevalier (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of red currant, red Plum, sweet spice, a little sour snake note here as well as a little cedar and earth. Medium plus intensity acidity, quite red hued, a little dilute, the right side of sour, tannins are drying, persistent, talc textured but support the red fruits. Okay.
