This is still holding up extremely well for the vintage. Although there has been some bottle variation in the case. Rich, smooth, super-well integrated. Tertiary cab notes on the nose. Japanese plum, damson, earthy truffle and cream on the palate. Long with a little drying tannin on the palate. Drink up, but still brilliant. Au revoir my friend over several years. This is the last bottle.

Coravin fun - Domaine de Chevalier rouge (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Black over very slight red currant, plummy notes, very slightly dusty sweet spice, cedar, cream. Juicy, fleshy, that slight red berry notes is surrounded by those darker hued fruits, grippy tannins are coarse flour textured, slightly bitter on the finish but long, good.

Watery, with little depth or clarity. Slightly dusty and dilute Cabernet. Smooth and easy to drink, but lacks the fruit to age. Would have shown well 5yrs ago when there was more youth. 88pts and drink up

Coravin fun - Domaine de Chevalier (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Cream, blackberry, a little cherry, plum, sweet spice, cedar. A very slight baked fruit quality. With time some blackcurrant and biscuit. On the palate it's very fresh black fruits, cedar, cream, sweet spice with plentiful drying coarse sandpaper tannins. All in balance. Long. Yum.
An exceptional red wine. Brown on the edges. For a 16 year old wine, there's so much fruit. Went so well with a roast lamb. Good left bank cabernet dominant. One of the 1001 to try before you die chateaux. Good cellar conditions - peaking now. Drink up
