Purchased cellar-direct and stored in the dark at 57 degrees. Opened 07-27-23. Cork pristine. Color was a beautiful blue-black. Decanted (small amount of sediment), the bottle washed, and the wine placed back into it and topped with a tee-cork. Taken to dinner 3 hours later. This is massively-fruity (the usual plum, fig, prune, black fruits), exceptionally smooth and well-balanced now with not a bit of tannin left but still has slight acidity at the finish. Quite delightful and paired perfectly with duck. 95 points. purplepalate

Two hour decant. Improved a bit over the next hour. Big powerful funk nose. A bigger wine then the 05 which we drank recently. Our last bottle, may be time to drink if you still have some. Still very good as always, paired perfectly with spare ribs, but this certainly won't be getting any better and is most likely going to decline from here.

A Whole Lotta Chave Hermitage (Single Blind) (Chez Kailin): 00/01/03/2xRinger Flight. Oof this is just wierd and nothing like the other wines tonight. Odd nose of medicinal ripe black fruit. The palate is over-ripe and over-rich with fig and prune like fruit. Reminds of Amaro in some ways. Not my cup of tea. 80 points? My #5, Group #5.

This wine is always a favorite for me. Opened and decanted and drank next to an old Bordeaux. The fruit just leaps out of the glass on this one. So does the more metallic side. This was a stand out for me for the night.

Q2 - 2018 Tasting - Aged Washington State Wines (NYC): 5/11 wines tasted double blind. Yes here is that funky stinky barnyard nose that I love and I think this is definitely Cayuse and maybe the Frog! (good guess) In addition to the nose which just keeps going, this as has always been my experience with the frog just tastes great. Dark fruits, savory goodness of game, olives and the little burned bits of meat that stick to the bottom of a roasting pan. My favorite wine of the day with 3 pennies voted and 4 pennies voted by the group overall. Thanks to mc2wines for including the Frog in the line up!!!
