Aromas of leather, earth, slight peppery spice, brambles and sweet spice. Juicy acidity, black and green peppercorns, leather, earth, savoury but with some brambly fruit, a little textured but tannins are very much in support. Fresh and rather lovely.

Cotes du Rhone (Frank's place in Matraville): From Coravin. Hmm, touch of oxidation with almost maderisation initially, alcohol warmth, muted red and blackberry, sweet spice, a little pepper and herbaceous underpin, slight polished oak. Juicy acidity, fleshy in fact, chalky drying tannins, again red over blackberry fruit, the palate nicer than the nose. Okay. Note; with time that maderised/oxidised note seems to blow off a little and it gets a bit more savoury and meaty.

Cork looks like new (?). Bricked at the edges but still dark at the core; drank nicely with secondary notes; not exactly beguiling but perfectly nice on night 1; improved and fleshier on night 2. Plenty of sediment when we reached the bottom. Ready but still with some time left.

Health color and body.
Not much nose.
Full, rich mouthful. Fruit has dropped leaving spicy leather tones with slightly salty raisins in the finish.
