This is a list you can throw darts at to find something special - the quality is very high across the board. All have impeccable provenance as well. Have a good weekend everyone - - Jon Rimmerman ************************* Friday Feature: 2007 Perrachon Gamay Noir (Bourgogne) We've offered many of the cru wines from Perrachon in 2007 (Morgon, Julienas, etc) but this is his top entrant, an amalgam of his finest parcels that is listed as simple "Bourgogne". Not to be confused with Bourgogne Rouge from the Cote d'Or (Pinot Noir), this Bourgogne is 100% Gamay Noir from Perrachon's oldest vines. Vinified in a combination of steel, cement, older barrels and a few new it will be very interesting to see what everyone thinks of this wine. When a producer puts his or her finest foot forward for under $14, you have to tip your cap and just enjoy the fruits of their labor. This wine would have been closer to $18 but a perfectly timed exchange rate in late winter (when this was secured) has paid off. STRICT LIMIT 12/person until we run out. ************************* 2007 Brocard Chablis Grand Cru "Valmur" 750ml (BH93-95) EXTREMELY LIMITED This wine is one of the steals of the vintage for Grand Cru fruit. My affinity for the 2007 Chablis campaign has already been well documented but this is almost like turn back the clock pricing on a wine that is so sinfully pure and stony it's like biting the side of a stalactite covered cave. When Fevre's 1er's are only a few dollars less than this (and far more available), you know this is a crazy bargain. Those of you that take pride in the pain you derive from the finest white wine take special note - one of the top wines of a classic year (if we run out, Wine Exchange has a few cases at about the same price)... 2007 Brocard Chablis Grand Cru "Valmur" 1.5lt (BH93-95) EXTREMELY LIMITED (This is slightly more than two 750ml's but, for a 2007 magnum of this quality, I would place this near the top of the heap - VERY RARE in this format and basically impossible to find in magnum - should have interesting secondary value down the road). 2006 Delas Hermitage Marquis de la Tourette We've offered this wine three other times this year and the price continues to go down at the source? People keep asking for it so here you go - I can't believe everyone has already consumed their bottles this young but there must be a reason why it continues to spark so much interest. This parcel is much smaller than the other lots we've had but I believe this is the last of it (they've moved on to 2007).   (DELAS Hermitage TOURETTE) Odds Dear Friends, A few limited quantity odds and ends arrived today - these are in-stock and will be available for local pick up in a week or so (they will ship after May 1st): 2006 Delas-Freres Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette STRICT LIMIT 6/person until gone Most of you know how enthusiastic I am regarding 2006 in the Northern Rhone...here's one of the last bargains in Hermitage: 2005 Champ d'Soeurs "La Tina" (Fitou) EXTREMELY LIMITED This has been a perennial favorite for over two years now. We finally received a re-order parcel this morning so here it is. What was once massively tannic and unruly has begun a metamorphosis that will require another 1-2 years to really show all that awaits, but the process has begun. The La Tina is considered one of the finest values in the entire Midi. It is a serious wine (for any price), and it is considered the flagship wine of Fitou. Normally, I would cut and paste my original review of the wine (from 2006 or 2007, I believe?) but our friends at Pinard have done such a wonderful job that I'll give them the spotlight (translated form German): "Instead of fatiguing Barrique flavours and more substantially mostly dry tannin (how we know it well from many estates from Fitou), all three red wines of Champ d'Soeurs present themselves fruit-full and uncommonly elegant, fresh and therefore wonderful drink-animating. But this special cuvee (the top wine, La Tina) from the traditional vines of the south, more nobly and more nobler, but nevertheless authentic garrigue wine, is simply the Insider Tip From Fitou! In the nose a great, complex flavour spectrum, coined/shaped of fresh, wild, dark berries, intensive, however very fine spice resembles elders and black pepper. The wine flatters the palate with a marvelously soft texture and a sensuous, opulent, tender succulence and fine-spicy fruit. This herbaceous sample copy of a lip-smaking, fun-drinking red wine from the Midi presents itself uncommonly harmonious, supplied with a creamy tannin structure and a long, mineral outlet. Which for a heart-recreating authentic Languedoc wine at an unbeatably fair price, the special cuvee "La Tina", which in the century class 2005 (nominal over somewhat more alcohol) demonstrates more order than in the past, which, however of the opulence of the fruit and the fine acidity, expressly mirrors the eloquence of Michel Bettane: "Undoubted a beautiful CuvÄe from Fitou from a grande wine property, which can call a model character for the entire region Fitou its own and which lovers of large wines would not like to miss, in any case". The Domain Champ d'Soeurs figures therefore rightfully under the largest Languedoc discoveries of the last 10 years!" Ok, I may be verbose but I could not have topped that. I believe most of you will find much to admire here, especially if you give the wine the requisite additional cellar time (uncork 2010-2015).
