Red fruit, licorice, and green herbal notes. Palate has medium acidity and more red fruit, with moderate fine tannins. Finish is medium-short. Has the guts to age a little longer, but quite nice now.

Tasted blind. Med purple with med legs. Med (+), youthful aromas of ripe red fruit, candied blue fruit, red roses, herbs, stems, possibly from whole cluster fermentation. No evidence of new oak, just a hint of neutral oak. Dry, with med (+) acidity and tannin and med alcohol (13%). The palate is consistent with the nose, with a slightly bitter licorice and savory note on the med (+) finish. Med (+) body, intensity and length. Very nicely balanced. Very good quality, with potential for further aging.
Cool to moderate wine, probably Old World. Potential varieties include Gamay, Pinot Noir (but for the color), Cabernet Franc (but it lacks the pyrazines).

This wine is pale-medium purple in hue with ruby on the rim. Its aromas include cranberry, raspberry, and floral notes. The red fruit has candied aromas, but the palate is fresh and has a bit of pepper. It is dry with med acidity, med alcohol, low-med tannin, and a surprisingly low finish. I’d love to revisit this in a few years to see how it’s changed, but very enjoyable.

Concentrated for Gamay. Minerality. Tobacco, finishes with some pronounced iron.
