  • After a few mediocre bottles of Leroy recently I wanted to make myself feel better with a sure thing. This did not disappoint. As wonderful as it was 2 years ago this bottle seemed ever so slightly mellower and emphasized more black fruit with a interesting coffee/ chocolate note. Outstanding spice throughout that was not over powering or too stylistic. Super balance and length. 2002 Leroys are really something. Happy this ended up being tasting note 3000!

  • Great funky nose, that kept on giving. Spicy palate, long long finish. I liked it a lot. Not a rock star, but very good and fun to drink.

  • The whole table thought this was a 2004, it was quite green and spicy on the nose and a little skinny in the mouth. Paul did not like the wine, I actually quite enjoyed it. The nose offered up some sandalwood and floral spice. It was red fruited and crunchy in the mouth, compact and lean with decent cut to the finish.

  • Decanted and drank over 4 hours. After about an hour, a wonderfully bright nose of red fruit, smoke, black fruit with lots of spice emerged. The palate was dense and concentrated, holding back lots of layers. Plenty of spice and candied cherries in a dense core of fruit. Very long lingering finish. Very Leroy, very sexy. Interestingly, with more time in the glass, the tannins seemed to become more apparent but were never bothersome.

  • At Tru vs the 02 Les Brûlées. A beautiful rich dark fruit smokey sexy nose. The taste perfectly matched the nose and this got better over the two hours we had this open. Very Leroy. This has a long life ahead.
