9 months since my last bottle. I had my reservations about the 2017 Felton Road Pinots when first trying them a few years back but this is coming together very nicely. Aromatic and pretty nose with whole clusters and good lift. Still a bit richer than your average Burgundy but again beautifully balanced with earthy notes, wood spices and a mix of dark and a bit of red fruit too. Medium length. Best showing so far of the 2017 Block 3. Curious to check in on Block 5, which I usually sligrly prefer over 3

Merely a year since my last bottle and I can barely recognize my previous notes. The whole cluster and wood spice notes are now well integrated, the wine is fairly rich, showing the weight of a Burgundy GC but not (yet?) the aromatics and complexity. Fun and easy to drink now with its round largely dark fruit and some earthy notes, but perhaps there is more to come with a couple of additional years in bottle. 92 (+)

From 25+ year old vines, around 30% new oak. Under screwcap. High quality NZ pinot. Lighter weight. Leaner with fresh, direct acidity. Very well proportioned and balanced. Herbs and spices, cocoa and black pepper, raspberries and red cherries with some strawberries. Savoury detail and floral lift. I was originally a little underwhelmed by 2017 NZ pinots but I’m enjoying the understated qualities and nuance of the top cuvées, like this … Ready to go or drink over the next 10-15 years … 93+

2 years since my last bottle. Drank over several days and did not find this ‘17 Block 3 as good as I usually find the two Felton Road Pinot blocks. This is currently very much dominated by whole clusters giving the wine intensely herbal even slightly bitter aromatics. Feels a bit overdone in terms of whole clusters inclusion at this point and hope this will be better integrated with a few more years of bottle age. 89+
