Intensity medium(-). Cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, pepper, cedar, tobacco, medicinal. Acidity medium, tannins medium(+). Finish medium. After 23 years this Crozes-Hermitage still stands much stronger than I had expected, although I would recommend everyone with a bottle in the cellar to consume it shortly as the fruit that is left is likely to fade away.

{cork, 12.5%} Waning garnet. Aged nose of polished leather enlivened with a spicy, dusty-attic kind of aroma. It's all tertiary now, really. Remains quite intense, though; it's not a feeble bouquet. Spicy palate, with aging black fruits, a little white pepper maybe, with some earthiness. Tannins have faded to a memory; the wine is about medium-bodied, no more, and still enjoyable enough to drink without being startling. Not worth keeping longer now.

This was very enjoyable, but it was just lacking a bit of front of palate complexity to score higher. It is still holding together well and should be alright for another year or two, but I'd be surprised whether it improved.

Adequately pleasant. Not strong in flavor.
