Almost a bday dinner (Chez Bruce, London): Definitely a wine we prefer youngish and it felt on point at this age. We would suggest one decants as we did Leve a glass or too for the end of the dinner and the wine for sure developed more. We often do serve this with cheese as this is beyond the usual dry whites. Intense and dense with a proper old vine feel, layered and with an intensity of flavour, concentrated and focussed. Soft lemon, candied lemon almost, rich, floral and tropical finish with a soft waxy edge. An impressive 94-95 wine.

A truly remarkable wine. One of those wines where the high quality French oak (like Ramonet) gives the effect of reduction, but it’s really just a beautiful toast patina singing loudly. It is utterly rich and satisfying. Deep concentrated yellow peach, lemon confit, pineapple and melon marry together so nicely. Full bodied, with ample buttressing acidity. Years ago, I was blinded on the 17 of this wine and guessed a 10 year old Peter Michael chard. Even now that makes some sense. This is world class, luxurious stuff.

Taken to a restaurant, this took a while to open. Trademark white flower, white peach, honeysuckle and quince. Pretty good 10-15 second finish that came in waves. I recall the 2012, 2014 and 2016 some years ago and this is similar if not quite as concentrated as the 2012. 93-94/100

Goose bumps! The best white wine of my life. So far ;-). Strong & mighty and otherworldly ethereal at the same time. No fruits, just floral and mineral, white blossoms and almond paste. And the wonderful tender spiciness at the end. Heavenly. Can I please bathe in this? Bliss.
