  • Decanted an hour and a half. Dark ruby with medium plus intensity developed aromas of violet, blackberry, briar, blackcurrant, cedar, meat, tobacco and a hint of tar. This wine has medium plus acidity, medium alcohol, medium, plus body, medium plus tannins with a long finish. This wine has medium plus intensity, flavors of violet, blackberry, blackcurrant, tobacco, and tar.

This is a very good wine that should be drunk in the next eight years given the fruit intensity and tannins.

  • 第一次觉得这个酒太过了。接下来三次恢复原来的面貌,非常rich的freisa。热年份,但是很难拒绝这种generous又有独特风格的酒。

  • Deep+ black-red/ Lots of porty aromas: damson, date, dried plums, prune juice with dried spice and raisin. A full bodied, powerful entry with massive muscle, super rich texture and firm puckering tannins that coat the tongue. Plenty of dried spices and baked fruits, this is a monster with immense concentration, a warm, generous alcohol, and more. Despite its weight this has enough acidity underneath to keep the wine almost in check. A long finish, puckering yet with a sweet raison damson coating on top. all the bells and whistles.

  • Whopping 15% alcohol.

Very deep, dense and fully opaque black ruby color. Ripe, developed and complex nose with layered, sweet-toned aromas of wizened black cherries, licorice, some smoky tones, a little bit of blackberry marmalade and a hint of aged raisiny fruit. The wine is full-bodied, rich and sweet-toned with concentrated and somewhat developed flavors of ripe blackberries, sour cherry bitterness, dusty aged character, some sweet and toasty spices, a little bit of stony minerality, a hint of bitter almond and a touch of raisiny fruit. Despite its rich and concentrated overall character, the wine doesn't come across as flabby and undefined due to its noticeably high acidity and still very firm and grippy tannins. The finish is long, very tightly-knit and markedly grippy with intense flavors of ripe dark plums, stony minerality, sour cherry bitterness, some sweet blackberry marmalade tones, some alcohol warmth, a little bit of peppery spice and a hint of toasty wood. The ample tannins lend a very grippy, mouth-drying touch to the aftertaste.

A very big, tightly-knit and structured Super-Freisa that would feel atypically big even for a Barolo, let alone for Freisa. I know Vajra's style of Freisa is very big and concentrated for the variety, but this wine feels borderline ridiculous. Or it would feel, if it weren't so impressively structured and balanced for its size. Sure, the wine shows too much alcohol, the fruit is a tad too sweet and the oak department feels rather prominent even at 9 years of age, but the wine still manages to come across surprisingly balanced. Stylistically this wine is more impressive than a great majority of 2007 Barolo wines I've tasted. A Frankenstein Freisa if there ever was one, most likely will need another decade before hitting its peak. Think of Barolo, only made with Freisa instead of Nebbiolo. Overdelivers for 30€.

  • 15% alc; Very deep black red.
Deep penetrating aromas of ripe black forest fruit: black cherry, damson and prune. Gorgeous complex notes of bitter chocolate, tobacco and thick liquorice sticks.
Wonderful entry with sinewy hessian texture, incredible concentration, and generous, warm alcohol, offset by a sour, bitter cherry acidity. The tannins are wet and powdery, like biting off a liquorice chocolate bar - Yorkie bar styled thickness. Then savoury blackberry, baked clay pot and some raisins.
This wine has a broad mid-palate filled with fruit and secondary components and is all about texture, tannins, and fruit rather than overall complexity. Full-bodied, the wine is big on personality, alluring and with surprising freshness. Fabulous for a stormy winters night!
