Can't recall specifics but this was bottle was alive, kicking, and doing an endzone dance to celebrate how well it had held up. Another successful adventure in mature bordeaux. Shared with non-wine geeks and they all loved it.
The cork was marked to indicate that the bottle was refreshed at the Chateau in 2008(?).

Drinking shockingly well. No initial funk, and drank well without much aeration. Nose of red fruit, pepper, and soy sauce. Medium weight on the palate with soft tannins. Actual flavors of pepper, soy, fruit, and a hint of iron/blood. Long finish supported by acidity rather than tannins. Held up well on the 2nd day as well.
