  • Via coravin over a couple days; day 2 let it aerate linger and it gave a chance for the blood and iron to become less bloody. Better on day 2 by a couple points.

  • Opened after finishing Faiveley Mercurey, bigger and better nose with more cherry, more forest floor, and more barnyard, same on the palate, bigger body, fruit richer but not as sweet and silky as the Mercurey, very tasty and showing Grand Cru quality versus the Premier Cru quality of the Mercurey and the help it showed from the great 1999 vintage versus the 1998 Le Corton vintage, this Le Corton showed elegance, lovely fruit, and quality winemaking with the usual Bouchard style, mouth filling fruit, and a long finish. Uploaded photo-interesting label from Chateau Beaune.

  • No decanting. Concentrated dark red core. A 16 Acre plot at the top of the hill of Corton, just below the tree line. Fresh and structured out of bottle. Great balance. Lean texture yet the finish explodes with fresh fruit and crisp acidity. Fine grained tannins that linger just enough to notice. Forest like pine scents with floral cherry fruit and earth. Very interesting.
After an hour or so this changed to a more robust style with more earth and wood notes. Expansive dark cherry fruit came to the rescue of the massive tannin that became firm on the finish with air. Like it, don't love it but all in all a well made wine. This can hold and may improve but is enjoyable now so why wait. Drink now to 2016

  • WCC Grand Cru Red Burgundy (Fort Orange Club, Albany, NY): The first wine of the evening to generate some excitement in me. An interesting nose with a long sweet fruit finish. Should drink well for at least 5 more years.
