2001 Bouchard Pere et Fils Le Corton; Cellared since 2008; Tasted at a burgundy lunch March 2, 2022. Not decanted Garnet in the glass with some browning at the rim. There was a lovely nose of black fruit and forest floor. On the palate the wine revealed beautifully developed black and red fruit with good depth and a velvety mouthfeel. The wine really opened and got better in the glass after 1 hour, displaying great complexity and a 20 second finish. A really enjoyable, aged Grand Cru burgundy from a reliably good producer in its later life, drinking beautifully. It was the wine of the tasting. Would probably drink up in the next 2-3 years.

Had the Corton with a pre-Mother's Day dinner of grilled ribeyes. baked potatoes and fresh green beans. This bottle showed better than the last, but still a bit disappointing in that it's not grand cru quality. The color was deep, but the nose wasn't equally big. The wine was fine to drink, but I had hoped for more, especially from a good producer and a good year. Alas, one bottle left.

Year 3 - Super Tasting 3 of 5 - Chris does Blind Pinot Noir (Dundas, Ontario): Fruit was quite dark here but also quite simple....some glycerine.
Palate has some pure dense fruit but it is a bit viscous and ultimately forgettable.
Finish is simple and medium in length.
