A big complex changeable primary Corton. Darker core with garnet edge and good legs. Big bright open primary bouquet from the time of opening. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries nutmeg spice caramel tomato vine. Mushroom after 15 minutes. Developed prominent dirty water, barnyard and manure aromas later. Palate is well balance and elegant. Moderate to high tannins. soft mouth feel. Good length. Flavours reflect bouquet. Extroverted big feminine personality. Technical : 12 degrees. Riedel Bordeaux glasses. Best 0-30 minutes.

2020 Burgundies I: Côte de Beaune from Bouchard: got a very stingy pour so had to make it count… couldn't get a good read on the body, and the colour seemed to be pleasantly solid ruby. not a lot to swirl to coax many aromas, so took my time…
red and black fruits were prominent in the nose, as was sous-bois; accents i picked up included sandalwood, sage, rose petals, pomegranate, and clove-like spices. it feels round and full yet soft-textured in the mouth; the ample fruit core has fine tannic support and the acidity and minerality seem to lift the wine thru the long finish.
the wine is this stage remarkably open for a Grand Cru and already tips some of complexities in store. naturally, time will be its friend… i'd say at least six more years. there's upside potential to the rating here.
Corton generally produces some of the bigger wines of the Beaune, and this seems to be the case this year as well. that said, this isn't particularly bigger or riper than other years' wines, in spite of the hot vintage.

Flavors of dark red fruits like red and blue plums with a gentle but deep dark earth note. Flavorful fruit and earth. Soft spices on the tail end with bitter minerals.
Nice complexity here without anything throwing the whole flavor profile off. The wine also has a fuller mouthfeel without being overdone. My favorite red of the lineup.

2023 La Paulee Grand Tasting of 2020 Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Light ruby. Very stemmy and green. Lovely, elegant weight and feel. Dark red fruit and soil, excellent acidity, and fine tannins. Quite a delicate, refined Corton that is surprisingly accessible now but has the skeleton to age well. Another cooler wine from Bouchard in this warm vintage.

Grandes Maisons Grands Crus - Grands Jours de Bourgogne 2024 (Santenay): Beautiful nose here, deep aromas of cured meat, red and dark fruit, earthy elements. Polished tannins, especially for a Corton. Great showing and attractive QPR

Domaine Bouchard (K&L Wine Merchant - Redwood City): Aromas of dark red fruits, dark earth, soft but dark red flowers with dark green stems, black dry stone, even a bit of grilled meats with nice spices.
