The wine has a beautiful and refined structure with a nose of apricots and mandarin. Slight flintiness on the first night, opening to an elegant posy of lime, lavender and lees. A rich smooth mouth-feel leaving us wanting more.

Not nearly as oaky a bottle as others tasted here, and an overall leaner style than I had been led to expect. Oak is there, but as a higher, smokier note above very much alive pear and especially citrus fruits, white rocks. Very good.

Mealy nose with a lick of citrus. There's some cashew nut, grapefruit and lemon rind, the oak is quite integrated into the wine now, but it's lacking a bit of definition, there's a nice soft and rich mouthfeel with decent acidity and a long finish.

Pink grapefruit, peach skins and nectarines on the nose lead to oranges, oatcakes and a little honey on the palate. The finish is dry with a lasting toastiness.

Chardonnays from around the globe (Vadebacus (Sant Cugat - Spain)): Tasted blind. On nose it's an explosion of... wood. Well this has so much toasted / wood aromas that it's difficult to find anything else. On palate it's pretty much the same, although the high acidity and citric flavour is welcomed. I finished the bottle the following day and it had a slight upgrade on nose but still wood is just way too predominant. Tasted along the Ridge Estate, I was surprised both wines had the same % of 1-2 year old barrels (around 25%), yet this one seemed to have at least +50%. Wont repeat.
