  • The 2000 Challenge (Le Petit Sommelier): Drank on the same night but not part of the tasting

Clear green gold color. The nose is bright, clean, still fresh and fruity which is insane, very fine profile, not even close to 9yo white. With time you get sweeter nuances, light caramel hints, tin apricot, stalky spiciness. Give it time in the glass to grow.

The wine is dry, med+ body and intensity, still green in the palate, a bit of smoke and ripe peach, straightforard NZ beauty, complex, entirely welcoming, great structure, long finish of ripe tropical fruit and acidity still kicking.

Outstanding quality, drinking now but will definately hold. Loved it

  • Started off with very delicate aromatics which needed some coaxing. tried in several stems and showed best out of a traditional PN glass. Green & yellow apple, green melon and green table grapes with hint of lime zest. ( no detectable oak notes) A flavor profile consistent with aromatics but with excellent verve and precision. Surprisingly crispy for it's age when considering it's Burgundian style although i will use that complimentary moniker with caution as this is very distinctive and has it's own style. With several hours this became even more mouth filling in texture and complexity but always maintaining it's precise focus. The flavors and mouth presence are the strong points of this wine. Very food friendly showing a polish and quality and definitely offering excellent value. I liked this quite a bit but will recommend consumption as i am a little concerned about the aromatic component continuing to recede with additional bottle time.

  • Once upon a time I bought white Burgundies, but why bother when wines like this - and others from Australia and NZ - exist, when they are never corked (stelvin!), and LAST longer than 3 or 4 years before oxidising.....? Lovely wine, in its stride, and will give lots of pleasure still. Agree with other comments about the tropicality, but it is muted and well integrated.

  • A massive butter bomb with flavours of peanuts, cream, and lime. Possibly the oakiest Chardonnay I've ever tasted, but it has strong acid as well, so it's OK with food.
