WOW! Gorgeous from the moment I opened the bottle. Cork broke, so I strained each glass. To the eye, a deep ruby hue welcomes a beautifully pungent bouquet, flowery with raspberry and boysenberry notes, maybe even a hint of clove. On the palate, so, so delicious -- the dark red fruits are there, nice acid, a well-balanced wine almost two decades on. CT states a 2022 drinking window, but based on the wine's color and flavor profiles, this still has some life in it...I'd say another 3-5 years for sure, depending on how well it's been stored. Given the prices of Red Burgundy these days, this is an incredible bargain at $105!

This wine had strong color and the first nose was deep and seemed fairly fresh. The entry and midpalate revealed a masculine Burg with dark fruit and good size. However, the finish was austere and tannic - clipped even. This was the downfall of the wine, severely limiting the enjoyment of it. After a couple hours in the glass, the nose lost freshness and turned pruney. This was the first time the wine showed as a typical 2003...prior to that indicator on the nose it would have been tough to nail this as a 2003 I think.
