Already fairly tawny-brown on the rim. The bottle that I have tried is at peak or just past it. One thing to keep in mind is that I am not sure of storage conditions. That said, 2012 is confirmed to be a weak vintage in terms of substance, density. It feels thin on the palate. However, it has a pretty nose of spices, above all cola and mace. There is no primary fruit left over. Not too persistent in the after taste. A pretty wine a couple of years ago. Now it has to be consumed (at least the case from which this bottle comes from).
During a merchant tasting. Boom, here we have it, the first nose of this tasting where I see what we all are looking for when drinking quality wine. Complexity and refinement. Subtle red fruit, some smoke, spices. Pleasant palate, tannins still a touch young but good balance overall. At 50 EUR this is the kind of wine that I would recommend when you want to experience what a good quality, typical Burgundy can do for you, but your budget is constraint. Also very good and in a similar price level is the Gevrey Chambertin Les Cazetiers from this producer.

The wine looks ruby colored. It smells like cranberry, strawberry, blackberry, red currant and mushroom.

After WWS, KEVIN & KELLY IN BURGUNDY – FAIVELEY, BOUZEREAU, MERME, REMOISSENET, DUJAC & COMTE LIGER-BELAIR; 11/11/2013-11/14/2013 (Burgundy): A hint of exotic spices, dark fruits, blackberries and a hint of earth. Very structured wine with noticeable tannins. This will need at least ten years.
