  • Wax seal, diam cork, museum bottling.
No sign of seepage, excellent fill.
Opens super smoky, recalls smoke taint char.
Some volatile acidity on the nose.
Plush middle, autumn leaves, with prickly acid finish.
I enjoyed the taste of full maturity, but i imagine this may not be for everyone.
Good but not close to great.
Finishes with acidic bite, the wine is not fully balanced.

Drink up,this ain’t improving. Nuh uh.

  • Purchased as a library wine from Jason Lett. This is a very distinctive, Burgundian style pinot that has aged exceptionally well. Color shows miniimal oxidation and nose is fulll earthy with just a little barnyard funk. Faint residual strawberrys with a predominance of acid and very long finish. Got better and better over a couple hours. May even have a few more years of life a real treat.

  • The Eyrie Vineyards South Block Vertical 1975-2007 (McMinnville Grand Ballroom in McMinnville, Oregon): Faint and delicate scents of leather, perfume, and dried cherries show in the glass. Full strawberries, complete with seeds and a bit of stem blend wonderfully with the tart acidity on the palate. This has a bright and lovely character right now, and is barely showing its age at all. The acidity dries things out well and runs out on the finish. This is definitely on the lighter side in respect to the other wines in the vertical, but there is more fruit on the palate than the nose suggests. 90-
