Drinking incredibly well at this point. Evolved in the decanter of 3 hours, wish I had a bigger bottle to see what would have happened. Fruit is bright and lively with tertiary flavors starting to throw their hats into the ring. Truly exceptional.

Took to a restaurant for dinner with my father, paired with a 2002 Eyrie chardonay. Color was a light garnet, server decanted with questionable looks, gave him a taste to the, expected, "Oh, shit!" This is, another, true gem of a wine from Eyrie. If you have some in the cellar, make sure to rush through it in the next three to four DECADES.
The ever present nose, and first blush of taste, that just screams strawberry, is there in force. Blend with that smoky, black cherries, a handful of other dark fruits, a hint of leather and tobacco (from age), a newt's tail worth of anise.....
Then, you get to sit there for the next several minutes, before your next sip, wondering what all those flavours and smells are that you are experiencing.
This is truly an epic wine.

Drank along with the '92 south block - both were fantastic. The wines are so similarly structured. Delicate with bright fruit and a long caramel finish. Really great stuff

- Crimsom color - Drank with some friends with dinner. Wonderful nose of berries, smoke with a hint of leather. Strawberries almost overwhelm the palate, fades wonderfully with hints of cherry. A truly wonderful wine

supposedly from the original planting at Eyrie. But this bottle is not the reserve, or at least not labeled as such on the upper label.
nose - caramel
mouth - sappy fruit, brown sugar, luxurious but a bit lazy.
Overall fine but nothing noteworthy. Others liked it considerably more.
