Vinetasters: (mostly) 2010 Burgundy (Park Ridge, IL): Served double blind. More intense nose, with a candied strawberry quality to it. High acid but pleasant on the palate with somewhat resolved tannins. A hint of licorice here adds a bit of interest to the wine. Another wine with quite a bit of structure. My 4th, group's 4th.

Medium red/garnet colour; mature, elegant and savoury on the palate, with a variety of dark fruit flavours (blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry), depth and spice, and a long finish. Some residual tannin still, but very good now.

Oysters, Shabu Shabu, Chablis, and Burgundy (San Francisco): Ruby. Red fruited nose. Medium weight. Bright red fruit, citrus, and soil with a lightly tannic finish. This was immediately more forthcoming than the 3 Chevillon crus tasted last month. Excellent.

A fairly mature colour, garnet; soft, red fruited but intense on the palate with mature savouriness and good length. Some tannin still, but fine now. However, it will probably be better in a couple of years or so when the tannin has been absorbed.
