  • Round-2 after dinner

The host must've been still feeling thirsty after blinding us on the '20 Janthial Meix Cadot, and despite nearing mid-night, still felt we should've a finale... and what a finale this was - the overall WOTN (by drinking-window) by most consensus. Boy, what a wine, and it sure brought back memories - that roses, "bandung", spices bouquet. Fruit-sweetness on the palate, but very controlled, with red-cherries/berries enveloped in a silky texture the culminated in a fresh long finish. Just so delicious!

  • As expected from the great 2010 vintage this was very tight and just refused to yield despite decanting. Can certainty be cellared for many more years. Has great concentration and potential. Try again in 2025 and beyond.

  • So much promise here that i was unable to enjoy. Brought to dinner at Nope. Decanted for probably 60 minutes. All of the primaries felt restrained and it was clear the bottle needed more time. After another hour or so the flavors started appearing. My brother has a bottle of this, so looking forward to trying his with at least a three hour--if not longer--decant.

  • J.L. Chave Hermitage vertical tasting (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Popped and poured. Clear, ruby-tawny color. Very deep, fine and concentrated nose with lots of ripe red fruit. On the palate the impression continues. Very deep and fruity, high acidity, only 13,5% abv, very juicy and joyful to drink. But also quite balanced, round and with a good length. 93. For the original price a stunner!
