This early Arrowood blend of 4 grapes, with Cabernet predominant, is a revelation. Clearly perfectly stored even before I purchased it many years ago, this smooth yet richly textured wine just shows not only the staying power, but the extra qualities only available in 33 year-old wine. A tribute to Richard Arrowood and his career. Even early on, he knew what buttons to push and the fine art of blending. I was just amazed--and impressed. Drink up--fruit says goodbye after 3 hours open.

Medium/light red. The nose starts very floral with some caramel oak, later the Cabernet funk develops. Sweet red fruit flavours and enough acid to balance the sweetness.

It was certainly past its prime but still had some nice flavors to it. The fruit mellowed out quite a bit and for the first 30 minutes it was really enjoyable. It didn't hold up much past that though. No reason to hold onto this vintage any longer.

Just a hint of its original character on opening, but way past the drink-by date. Would have been nice to try 5-10 years ago.

Old Wine Offline; 9/26/2014-9/27/2014 (The Room Off the Patio at Ruth's Chris, and My House): Deep cranberry to pale garnet at the rim. A bit simple, but clean and loaded with bright fruit. A little heat, fairly light structure. Enjoyable.
