  • Tons of sediment and very, very cloudy. Lots of mushroom on the nose. Very feral. I am having a hard time getting my nose into this.

  • So much small sediment. Made it very cloudy. Had it standing up for about 5 days ... but still cloudy. Out of the bottle the aromatics were a bit stewed but not flawed. Just showing some age. Some secondary aromatics but not totally interesting. The acid squashes some of the interesting fruit on the palate. Still lots of red fruits and bit of purple. I enjoyed this but was hoping for more complexity and development. Instead it came off as s slightly tired Sonoma pinot showing mainly fruit and acid. Maybe the fruit and acid is setting this up for a nice future ... time will tell.

  • When I opened the bottle, sediment that looked like mud sprayed accross the table. The most that I have ever seen come out of the top of a bottle. The color is a pretty faded brick red. On the nose, the wine is totally into sedcondary aromatics. Soy sauce and mushrooms. A good wine but not great.

  • Bottle #1: NYD 2007. I liked but wasn't wowed. My Pinot pal who doesn't like Burg.-styled pinots could get past the nose. Other palates didn't really comment. Bottle #2: Opened 27 Feb 2009, lots of beautiful purple lees on the cork. WHOA is that some funk on the nose! Right there a lot of folks would put it down, I happen to love that smell- IF it is backed up by beautiful fruit which this was. Maybe it was released a little too early, if possible... Had a glass (over time) and saved half the bottle for next night (vacuvin'd)- a bit mellower on the nose and acid the second day. So, tons of funk, rotting forest floor, and then smooth, sour cherry fruit on the palate. Very lithe on the tongue, but pretty darn silky for the weight. I felt acidity was strong, but not electric battery acid as others got. One more bottle to try, and I think it will be relatively soon.

  • strawberry mushrooms, strawberry twizzlers, earthy, cypress bark, green pepper perhaps, on stones from the bottom of a mountain creek. sweet balance. still some tannins in there too. little old gray sweatshirt coming out. little 9 volt acidity though, what's up with that? non-frout-bombish pinot suits me just fine. nice rustic color.
