  • Rhône Tasting-cum-Lunch (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL): Deep and cedary, black fruit, tannic and rich, masculine and minerally, sturdy and structured, not really terroir driven, flavoursome and persistent.

  • Drank from Coravin. Well made wine, but not much interesting character for a cote rotie of this vintage & vineyard. Likely has another 10 years left but don't think it will improve, just the fruit will mellow further.

  • In contrast to what KARL.1480 said, I felt this wine WAS the lighter elegant kind of Syrah. Rather Burgundian, I was shocked that the inside of the cork was not at all stained black like other Northern Rhone. The wine had a lot of aged fruit on the palate, and less of the pepper, cigar, bacon, and smoke, I'm used to in Northern Rhone. Very smooth on the palate with ample acidity which was actually a little bracing at first. I seriously think it would have fooled people in an appropriated aged Burgundy flight. However, I don't like Burgundy much because they lack complexity, and so was the problem with this wine. I'd assume it is at peak, and I doubt it will get better, but at the same time, there's no reason to think it wouldn't last 10 more years.

  • Tät mörk färg, lite bruna drag

Björnbär, rostade fat, sandelträ, multna löv, kryddigt, köttigt

Torrt och strävt, lite saftigare, fortfarande en viss syra, bra längd

  • Clear, deep intensity, garnet color.

Big, dark and meaty nose. Pitch black fruit, charred meat, fine cigarrs, dried herbs, worn leather, meat stock, mushrooms and cold coffee.

Quite full bodied with rounded up tannins and the acidity still vibrant. Velvety mouthfeel with very ripe (but not jammy) fruit, luxurious oriental spice, smoked meat and sous bois. It really has that mature, fine wine kind of palate. The finish is long and lingering.

A rather big and lavish kind of wine. You can taste that there's really high quality fruit that went in to this wine. It maybe lacks personality and/or charm and I personally prefer that more aromatic, lighter style of Syrah. Based on this bottle this wine is ready to drink and I wouldn't want a day more aging to it.

(MORDOREE Cote Rotie Chapoutier) Friday SPECIAL Dear Friends, Some hard to find formats and crazy prices below - all are in perfect condition, directly from the source. To find original 3.0lt bottles of Cote Rotie at this point (from the cellar) is quite rare, so take note. Have a good weekend everyone! 2005 Moulin Haut Laroque (Fronsac) LIMITED 3/person (Compare at more - one of the better values of 2005. You can look up the scores if you need to but look for Suckling to give the overall vintage 100pts next week...) 1996 Klein aux Vieux Remparts “Burgreben” Riesling (Alsace) LIMITED 3/person They sent us an extra ten cases of this wine as they felt bad there was space left-over on a pallet - it’s not everyday that a winery “fills” a pallet with 12 year old Riesling at peak...obviously the amount of wine all of you ordered made an impression. These are the only bottles available in the US. 2003 Chapoutier Crozes-Hermitage “Les Varonniers” 3.0lt 1999 Chapoutier Cote Rotie La Mordoree 3.0lt 1990 Chapoutier Cote Rotie La Mordoree 3.0lt - $1874.30 (these are some of the most impressive bottles of Cote Rotie I’ve ever seen) FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to the stated limits Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Bord6340 Als1200 Rhone2220 Rhone2230 Rhone2240
